A gloss-forming buffer layer 3 is film-formed by calcining Si resin or polyimide resin over the inner side (the light source-side surface) of infrared-to-heat converting layer 2 at high temperatures, so as to buffer the two layers in a manner that does not allow infrared-to-heat converting layer 2 and visible light reflecting layer 4 to be in direct contact with each other, and so as to reduce the influence of projections and indentations present on infrared-to-heat converting layer 2 and smoothen the light source-side surface of visible light reflecting layer 4. In this way, it is possible to suppress performance degradation by efficient discharge of heat by converting light into heat and by alleviating thermal stress and strain due to the difference in expansion coefficient between components, and it is also possible to achieve reduction in cost, miniaturization and weight reduction.

A side airbag apparatus can suppress the deformation of the periphery of a storage case by reducing a gas pressure applied to the storage case for storing an airbag when the airbag expands. A side airbag apparatus installed between a vehicle body and a rear seat includes a base storage portion that stores an airbag and an inflator. The upper and lower ends of an opening formed on the front side of the vehicle body in the base storage portion are provided with gas pressure relief portions for relieving the gas pressure generated when the airbag expands and deploys toward the vehicle body front side. The gas pressure relief portions are formed to make their widths narrower sequentially from the upper and lower ends of the opening toward the outside of the opening.

Liquid filling method

A large number of pattern elements stands upright on an upper surface of a substrate. After the upper surface of the substrate has been processed using a processing liquid, liquid filling processing for filling the upper surface with a filler solution is performed, in which the filler solution having a viscosity of three centipoises or more is applied to a central part of the upper surface. Then, by rotating the substrate at 1000 revolutions per minute or less, the processing solution adhering to the entire upper surface is replaced by the filler solution, and a solution layer of a predetermined thickness is formed. In this way, making the viscosity of the filler solution relatively high and making the centrifugal force acting at the time of rotating the substrate relatively low suppresses deformation of the pattern elements at the time of filling with a filler that uses the filler solution.
