The invention discloses a nickel-zinc battery. An electrolyte is composed of oxyhydrogen, a corrosion inhibitor, a surface active additive, zinc oxide and deionized water, and the mass ratio is as follows: 15 to 35 percent of hydroxide alkali, 0.1 to 10 percent of corrosion inhibitor, 0.01 to 5 percent of surface active additive, a proper amount of zinc oxide until the saturate state and the balance of deionized water. The defects of the existing zinc-nickel battery are overcome, and dissolution deformation of an electrode and formation, passivation and hydrogen evolution of zinc dendrites arereduced or relieved; mercuride, cadmium compound, chromate and the like which severely pollute the environment are not contained; the prepared zinc-nickel battery is high in mass specific energy, high in output power, small in internal resistance and long in service life. The cycle life of charging and discharging of the experimental battery at room temperature can reach 400-600 times. The nickel-zinc battery is rich in raw materials, low in cost, environment-friendly, and convenient and safe to use. Therefore, requirements of various power supply fields are met, and the nickel-zinc battery is suitable for various vehicles, electric equipment, standby power supply energy storage and the like.
