An object of the present invention is to prevent a spacing between a magnetic head and a writing medium at low temperature from increasing to cause a writing/reading error, and to prevent the magnetic head element protruded by a temperature increase from colliding with small protrusions on a magnetic disk surface, and to prevent damage on the element, and to prevent the occurrence of thermal asperity. In order to attain the object, a magnetic head slider is provided, which includes a magnetic head element supported on a rotating magnetic disk via a gap to write or read information on the magnetic disk, and a heat source for heating the magnetic head element. A magnetic disk device is further provided, which includes a magnetic head slider.

A read head, particularly suitable for a magnetic disc storage system, includes a read sensor having an air-bearing surface and an opposing top surface. The read head also includes a permanent magnet positioned adjacent the top surface of the read sensor for generating a magnetic bias field in the read sensor. A recording and reproducing apparatus including a recording magnetic head and a reproducing magnetic head with their floating height lowered for high density recordation and reproduction is provided. An information recording medium is provided on which it is possible to densely record information and from which it is possible to densely reproduce information by lowering the floating height of the recording and reproducing heads. The information recording medium includes a flat substrate and a recording layer provided on the substrate. Servo patterns and management information are recorded as magnetic marks on the recording layer in advance by a servo writer or the like. Because the substrate needs no recessed and embossed patterns formed in it, the slider of the recording and reproducing apparatus can be floated at a constant floating height lower than conventionally over the whole area of the medium. A magnetic recording medium comprises, on a substrate, a recording auxiliary layer, a recording holding layer, recording control layer, and a recording layer. The recording layer is constructed by using a ferri-magnetic material having perpendicular magnetization. The data can be recorded at a super high density by using the recording and reproducing head of the present invention, because the recording layer has the perpendicular magnetization. The disappearance of data, which would be otherwise caused by the thermomagnetic relaxation phenomenon, is suppressed after recording the data, because the recording layer has large coercive force at the room temperature. The data, which is recorded at the super high density on the magnetic recording medium, can be reproduced by using a magnetic resistance element carried on the recording and reproducing head.

An improved elastic member structure of a magnetic head comprises: a base having a first and a second holder plates, a first through hole being formed on the first holder plate, and a gap being formed between the first and second holder plates; a fixing base plate being fixed onto the first holder plate and having a second through hole formed at the center, and the two sides of the second through hole comprising a third through hole respectively; an engaging elastic member being disposed onto the fixing base plate and having a fourth through hole formed at the center, and both ends of the engaging elastic member are passed through the third through holes respectively for fixing the engaging elastic member onto the fixed base plate; and a magnetic head module being passed into the first, second and fourth through holes for contacting a card and reading data.

A bond pad is elevated from a slider body by a conductive post. The bond pad is disposed atop the post, which typically possesses a cross-sectional area smaller than the surface are of the bond pad. Thus, rather than having the entire surface of the bond pad in contact with the slider body, only the cross-sectional area of the conductive post is in contact therewith. Alternatively, a bond pad may be split into two electrically coupled pads: one pad used for housing a permanent bond, and a second pad used for housing a temporary bond. The pad used to house the temporary wire bond may be disposed atop a sacrificial layer. After a lapping process, the sacrificial layer may be etched away, thereby permitting the temporary pad to be removed.

A thin film inductive write head for magnetic recording has a write gap formed as a lamination of alternating layers of a nonmagnetic gap layer and a ferromagnetic spacer layer. There are N gap layers and N−1 spacer layers, with each pole tip of the write head being located adjacent to a gap layer. The spacer layers in the gap structure are formed of a ferromagnetic material with a high saturation moment density (B_S) that is close to the B_S of the spacer material from which the pole tips are formed. Unlike the pole tips, the spacer layers are not part of a magnetic circuit and are magnetically isolated, i.e., completely surrounded by nonmagnetic gap material. The effect of the spacer layers is to effectively divide the gap into a plurality of smaller gaps. The write head with the laminated gap creates a write bubble that is narrower in the off-track direction and wider in the in-track direction.

The invention provides a disk drive. The disk drive includes a metal base that has a rectangular bottom wall and side walls formed on each side of the rectangular bottom wall, the side walls including a first side wall on a shorter side, a metal cover that is fixed to the metal base with a plurality of metal screws, including two screws disposed at opposite ends of the side wall, a gap being formed between an upper end of the first side wall and the metal cover, a magnetic disk disposed on the metal base, at a position offset from a center of the metal base in a longitudinal direction towards the first side wall, and a head. The first side wall and the metal cover are electrically connected at an intermediate position of the first side wall between said opposite ends of the first side wall.

A heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) head gimbal assembly (HGA) protects the associated HAMR heating source from unwanted contact, such as from contact with an adjacent HAMR laser in response to a shock event. The HGA is configured such that the distance between the flexure and the top of a load beam flange is greater than the height of a submount associated with the heating source, and the height of the submount may also be greater than the height of the heating source, thus protecting against contact between adjacent heating sources.

The invention relates to a Seagate hard disk inner ring scratch data recovery method. The method comprises the steps that S1, cleaning the surface of a disk in the rotation process of the disk; S2, increasing the diameter of a magnetic head limiting column so as to limit the magnetic head to move to the scratched inner ring of the disc; S3, replacing the magnetic head of the hard disk with a brand-new magnetic head, and completing the assembly of the hard disk; and S4, performing power-on identification on the assembled hard disk, establishing a data recovery task, exporting all data in the hard disk, and finishing data recovery. The Seagate hard disk inner ring scratch data recovery method solves the problem that data recovery cannot be conducted on hard disk scratches in the prior art, and is a major breakthrough in the field of hard disk scratch data recovery.

Embodiments of the invention provide a microactuator, a head suspension assembly and a disk device. According to one embodiment, a microactuator includes a wiring substrate (40), and a piezoelectric element (50) connected to first and second connecting pads (70a, 70b) of the wiring substrate. The piezoelectric element includes a piezoelectric substrate (51), and a first electrode and a second electrode (56) provided on surfaces of the piezoelectric substrate. The piezoelectric substrate is provided with a first main surface (S1), a second main surface (S2) opposite to the first main surface and first and second side surfaces (SS2) opposite to each other. The first electrode includes a first electrode portion, a second electrode portion and a third electrode portion. The second electrode includes a fifth electrode portion (56a) and a sixth electrode portion (56b). The fifth electrode portion has an electrode end opposite to the first electrode portion, is provided on the first main surface, and faces the third electrode portion across the piezoelectric substrate. The piezoelectric element includes a protective insulating layer (60) covering at lease an end portion of the fifth electrode portion including the electrode end.

A memory device has an information plane (32) for storing data bits in a magnetic state of an electro-magnetic material at an array of bit locations (31). The device further has an array of electro-magnetic sensor elements (51) that are aligned with the bit locations. The information plane (32) is programmable or programmed via a separate magnetic writing device (21). In particular a read-only sensor element (60) is described for a read-only magnetic memory.

There are provided a magnetic reproducing apparatus and a magnetic reproducing method, which are suitable for use in reproducing a magnetic tape by using, for example, a magnetoresistive element. A signal input from a data input 1 undergoes processing suitable for magnetic recording in a recording signal processing circuit 2, and is supplied to a predetermined precoder 3. The signal from the precoder 3 is recorded by a recording head 5 on a recording medium 6 such as a magnetic tape through a recording amplifier 4. The signal read from the recording medium 6 by the reproducing head 7 is supplied to a reproduction equalizer amplifier 8 to be amplified and equalized. The equalized signal is supplied to a circuit 10 having a channel characteristic of, for example, a Partial Response Class 4 (PR4) through an A/D converter 9. The output signal from the circuit 10 is supplied to a PR4 decoder circuit 11 to detect the signal. Further, the signal from the decoder circuit 11 is sent to a reproduction signal processing circuit 12. Then, the signal is output to a data output 13 after executing demodulation, restoration to the original form from the packetized state of the signal, error correction and the like. Accordingly, the magnetoresistive element conventionally used for reproducing a hard disk and the like may be applied to reproduction of a magnetic tape.
