System and method for managing projector bulb life

Projector bulb life is managed to achieve desired performance parameters, such as a maximum life mode or maximum brightness mode, by sensing bulb luminance and applied the sensed luminance with a luminance feedback controller to drive the bulb to achieve the desired performance parameter. For instance, in maximum life mode the luminance feedback controller reduces power applied to the bulb to restrict bulb luminance to a maximum luminance setpoint when greater luminance is available with a newer bulb. In maximum brightness mode, the luminance feedback controller increases power applied to the bulb to increase bulb luminance if the sensor senses luminance below a threshold due bulb wear. Bulb life management improves project image illumination to display information in a variety of projector types, including digital mirror devices and liquid crystal displays.

Method and system for multi-layer network routing

Each node of a telecommunications network determines a connection type attributes available for each signal type supported by the node. Each signal type represents a different connection routing layer within the telecommunications network. Adaptation costs involved in traversing from one connection routing layer to another connection routing layer in the node are calculated. The connection type attributes and adaptation costs are included in a link state advertisement broadcasted by each node in the telecommunications network. A route calculation is performed for a desired signal to determine a route through the telecommunications network for the signal. The route calculation takes into account the various connection type attributes, availability, and adaptation costs in determining the shortest route for the signal through the telecommunications network.

System and method for communicating system management information during network interface teaming

An information handling system receives management information from a network, such as IPMI information, with plural network interface cards of the information handling system in a teaming configuration. Upon detecting management information, a network interface card issues an SMBus alert to a management processor of the information handling system. A team module running on the management processor reads the status of the network interfaces to identify the network interface associated with the alert and reads the management information from the network interface. Management information sent to the network is sent through a predetermined one of the network interfaces to ensure that, if teaming gets deactivated at the switch, there will not be multiple NICs with the same BMC MAC address transmitting to the switch.

System and Method for Communication Between an Information Handling System and Management Controller Through a Shared LOM

Communications between a host information handling system and its management controller sent through a shared LOM are re-directed at the LOM from communication through a network to instead communicate directly between the host information handling system and management controller. A management module compares destination addresses of packets sent from the host information handling system and the management controller with host information handling system and management controller network addresses stored on the LOM. Packets having destination address that match a host information handling system or management controller network address are redirected from communication across the network to communicate directly between the host information handling system and management controller.

Method and system for reducing false detections of access signals

A demodulator determines a time of arrival of an access signal. Access signals that do not result in a time of arrival are discarded. Upon obtaining a time of arrival, the access signal is equalized and a training sequence of bits in the equalized access signal is compared to a reference sequence of bits. A burst confidence metric is obtained in the comparison by summing the number of matching bits. The access signal is discarded if the burst confidence metric is less than a threshold number. A decoder performs a parity check on access signals that have a burst confidence metric exceeding the threshold number. The access signal is discarded if the parity check fails. Upon passing the parity check, the access signal is re-encoded and compared to its received version. If a number of errors from the comparison exceeds a bit error threshold, the access signal is discarded.

System, method, and computer readable medium for measuring network latency from flow records

The disclosure presents a system, method, and computer readable medium for computing network latencies. Network devices using flow processors create network traffic summary information in the form of flow records. A harvester may gather, process, and analyze flow records to find matching flows. Using matching flows, a harvester computes the latency, either one-way or round-trip, between two devices on the network. This information may be exported or stored on other devices on the network. The teachings of the present disclosure enable wide network coverage through the use of existing network traffic summary records. Further, the present disclosure mitigates network slowdowns associated with monitoring equipment. The present disclosure also reduces or eliminates the need for clock synchronization between devices on the network.

System and method for updating information handling system applications at manufacture

Information handling systems are manufactured with images having selected applications, such as operating system, word processing, antivirus and firmware applications, and one or more updates associated with one or more of the applications. The updates are configured to automatically prompt the user to install the updates on initial start-up of a manufactured and shipped information handling system. Registry settings configured at manufacture of the information handling system automatically calls the update install user interface as though the user had run the download user interface to download the update from the application's manufacturer. Preloading updates improves information handling system security by avoiding update downloads by unprotected information handling systems, and use of the application manufacturer's interface to install updates through the end-user purchaser decreases disruption of information handling system manufacture.

Disambiguation of False Touch Inputs at an Information Handling System Projected User Interface

Inputs to a projected or other type of displayed user interface are verified with a verification device that enhances input detection accuracy. For example, inputs at a projected keyboard are detected by an infrared curtain projected over the keyboard and breached by an end user finger as it strikes a key. The inputs are verified with a capacitive sensor device disposed below the keyboard that confirms a user touch. Alternatively, proximity sensing by the capacitive sensor measures distance and velocity associated with a finger to verify the inputs detected by breaching of the infrared curtain are intended inputs. Other verification devices may include an accelerometer that detects accelerations associated with inputs and three dimensional cameras that capture finger positions. Verification devices may be selectively enabled based upon power and accuracy constraints.
