Solar Collector

A solar collector (1) is provided from plastics material sheets. There is a base part (3) and a first covering (5) overlying the base part (3). A first chamber (9) exists between the base part (3) and the first covering (5). The sheets are scaled at their side edges. The surface of the base part (5) that faces internally of the first chamber is heat absorbing to assist solar energy absorption into the first chamber (9). The first chamber (9) is supplied with a positive pressure air from a fan or blower and inflates the collector. The air is, in turn, heated by solar energy absorbed and can be used to heat water or other liquids directly within the collector (1) or the heated air can be taken from the collector (1) and used for heating. In a variation a second covering (7) overlies the first covering (5) and provides a second chamber (11) which is also inflated with positive pressure air. A method of obtaining drinkable / potable water using the solar collector is also disclosed. In addition a method of recovering minerals from liquids using the solar collector is also disclosed. Air in the second chamber acts as a heat insulating medium relative to atmospheric air and allows solar energy to be collected in the air in the first chamber by solar energy from atmosphere passing through the air in second chamber.

The invention relates to a solar vacuum seawater desalination device comprising a base body, a seawater guiding unit, vacuum extraction equipment, a solar hot water circulation mechanism, cooling equipment, a fresh water collection unit and a saline matter recovery unit. The solar vacuum seawater desalination device has simple structure, mainly guides seawater by utilizing vacuum extraction and then distills the seawater by dint of the temperature of solar hot water so that water and saline matters which are contained in the seawater are separated, thereby achieving the effect of seawater desalination. The solar vacuum seawater desalination device is provided with the base body; a heating layer, an evaporating layer and a cooling layer are separated in the base body; the solar hot water is circularly arranged on the heating layer; heat temperature is transmitted to heat the seawater by utilizing a heat pipe penetrating through the heating layer to be positioned on the evaporating layer so that boiling vapors of the seawater contact with a supercooled pipe of the cooling layer to distill to form fresh water to be colleted and discharged in sections; and the bottom of the heating layer is provided with a salt discharge pipe for discharging the saline matters. The invention is used for carrying out the vacuum seawater desalination by applying natural solar resources, thereby achieving the purpose of reasonably using resources and enhancing the transformation efficiency of the fresh water.

Solar desalination system

The solar desalination system is a hybrid system combining a Fresnel solar concentrator with a solar desalination still. The solar still includes an absorber base, at least one sidewall, and a hollow cover. The hollow cover has an inlet port for receiving seawater such that the seawater passes through an interior of the hollow cover and exits through at least one outlet port into an open interior region of the solar still. At least one collection duct is secured to an inner face of the at least one sidewall for collecting pure water condensate. A vacuum pump is in communication with the open interior region of the solar still through a vacuum port for selectively lowering the pressure within the open interior region of the solar still. The solar still is suspended above a linear Fresnel reflector array such that the absorber base is positioned at a focal point thereof.

A structure for the collection of an evaporated fluid is disclosed. The structure may include a reservoir for holding a liquid. The reservoir may have an open end, and an enclosure mounted about the open end of the reservoir for entrapping a fluid evaporated from the reservoir. The enclosure may include a support structure, and a tensionable covering supported by the support structure. The structure also may include a collector for collecting condensate from the covering, the collector being mounted to the support structure, intermediate the support structure and the covering, and oriented to receive condensate moved by gravity along the covering. A tensioning apparatus may be employed for tensioning the covering about the collector to encourage the condensate to engage the collector. The condensate may then be transported within the collector to a desired location.
