An autonomous water source (AWS) for extracting water from ambient air and delivering it to a plant to support growth. The system is based on an adsorption-desorption-condensation (ADC) cycle using a sorption material to extract moisture from ambient air and condensing the water vapor driven off from the sorption material by subsequent heating and followed by condensation. Liquid condensate produced in this process on the condenser is collected and delivered by gravity to a plant to reduce thermal stress and to support growth. The invention provides a sustainable source of irrigation water for agriculture and forestry, including areas where no water resources exist or are not economically viable. It can be tailored in size, and therefore, output capacity, reflecting the desired water requirements of a particular application, and can be used to replace most agricultural situations now reliant on surface water drip feed systems. The device is simple, rugged, invulnerable to rain, snow, and freezing conditions, and can be designed to last for many years without service as there are few moving parts and power required for operation is provided by sunlight.

A hybrid photovoltaic panel-interfaced distillation with and without a hydrophobic microporous membrane distillation process is provided that is capable of utilizing solar waste heat to perform liquid distillation while co-generating solar electricity. The invention relates to a solar vacuum seawater desalination device comprising a base body, a seawater guiding unit, vacuum extraction equipment, a solar hot water circulation mechanism, cooling equipment, a fresh water collection unit and a saline matter recovery unit. The solar vacuum seawater desalination device has simple structure, mainly guides seawater by utilizing vacuum extraction and then distills the seawater by dint of the temperature of solar hot water so that water and saline matters which are contained in the seawater are separated, thereby achieving the effect of seawater desalination. A distillation unit for producing potable water using solar radiation is disclosed. The distillation unit includes a heating chamber defining an interior chamber adapted to contain a non-potable liquid for distillation, and a dome-shaped condensing portion having an inner surface and an outer surface, with the condensing portion disposed over the heating chamber such that the heating chamber and the inner surface of the condensing portion are provided in fluid-transfer communication. The distillation unit also includes a pre-heat jacket having a first surface and a second surface and an interior defined therebetween adapted to receive non-potable liquid for distillation therein. A solar seawater desalting apparatus includes a solar module, an insulating plate mounted below the solar module, a conductive plate, a condensing room below the insulating plate and communicated with the seawater channel, and a thermal plate mounted in the insulating plate. The photothermal evaporation material integrating light absorption and thermal insulation overcomes the problem of easy separation between the light absorber and the heat insulator, realizes rapid and efficient photothermal evaporation, and improves the stability and photothermal conversion efficiency of the solar photothermal seawater desalination device and the high-temperature steam sterilization device.
