Method system and article of manufacture for debugging a computer program by encoding user specified breakpoint types at multiple locations in the computer program

Disclosed is a system for debugging a computer program. A user indicates a specified breakpoint type, such as a program statement, variable reference, command, etc. The program, including program statements, is then compiled. During compilation, the compiler locates statements in the program corresponding to the breakpoint types and generates a function call into the program at instances in the program of statements corresponding to the user specified breakpoint types. During a debugging phase, a debugger may execute an executable version of the program, including the function calls. Upon processing the function calls, the debugger may stop execution of the program and pass control to the user to perform debugging operations.

Apparatus and method for drilling holes and optionally inserting fasteners

The method and apparatus for drilling holes and optionally inserting fasteners of the present invention provide for efficiently drilling holes through a multiple-layer structure because the layers are securely held together during the drilling by an electromagnet and a clamp, each on opposite sides of the structure. The electromagnet and clamp hold the layers together so tightly that burrs do not form within the holes and debris does not accumulate between the layers and, therefore the layers do not have to be disassembled after drilling. In addition, the apparatus and method of the present invention provide for initially drilling the hole with a countersink and for inserting a fastener into the hole, through the electromagnet, immediately after drilling the hole, such that the hole does not have to be revisited after reassembly and drying of the sealant in order to drill a countersink and / or insert a fastener.

This invention introduces a new concept called virtual construct intervals (VCI), where each predicate interval is decomposed into one or more of these construct intervals. These VCIs strictly cover the predicate interval. Namely, every attribute value covered by the predicate interval is also covered by at least one of the decomposed VCIs, and vice versa. Each construct interval has a unique ID or interval coordinate and a set of endpoints. A construct interval is considered activated when a predicate interval using it in its decomposition is added to the system. The predicate ID is then inserted into the ID lists associated with the decomposed VCIs. To facilitate fast search, a bitmap vector is used to indicate the activation of VCIs that cover an event value. The challenge is to find an appropriate set of construct intervals to make predicate decomposition simple and, more importantly, to build efficient bitmap indexes. Because each construct interval covers only a small range of attribute values, the invention also uses bitmap clipping to cut unnecessary bitmap storage. To facilitate bitmap clipping, the invention introduce the covering segment concept. Bit positions outside a covering segment are pruned.

Method and system for segmenting wires prior to buffer insertion

A method and system for segmenting wires in the design stage of a integrated circuit to allow for the efficient insertion of an optimum quantity of buffers. The method begins by locating wires in the integrated circuit which interconnect transistors and then determining the characteristics of the transistor and the characteristics of the interconnecting wires. Next, the method computes a first upper limit for an optimum quantity of buffers utilizing total capacitive load wire and transistor characteristics, then the method computes a second upper limit for an optimum quantity of buffers assuming buffer insertion has decoupled the capacitive load. Finally, the method segments the wires by inserting nodes utilizing the greater of the first computation or the second computation. A determined upper limit on buffer quantity allows wires to be segmented such that the number of candidate buffer insertion topologies is manageable. Therefore, an optimum number of buffers can be efficiently inserted by buffer insertion method which utilize the segmented wires.

Apparatus and method for immediate non-sequential state transition in a PN code generator

A power of a square matrix is determined in a time approximately proportional to the upper integer of the base-2 logarithm of the order of the matrix. A preferred embodiment uses two types of look-up tables and two multipliers for a matrix of 15×15, and is applied to a pseudorandom noise (PN) sequence phase correlation or state jumping circuit. An exact state of a PN code can be determined or calculated from applying an appropriate offset value into a control circuit. The control circuit can produce a PN sequence state from the offset value and typically does so within one system clock period regardless of the amount of the offset. Once the exact state is determined, it is loaded into a state generator or linear sequence shift register (LSSR) for generating a subsequent stream of bits or symbols of the PN code. The PN generator system may include state computing logic, a maximum length PN generator, a zero insertion circuit and a zero insertion skipping circuit.

Method and device for data storage

The invention provides a method and a device for data storage so as to solve the problem of low memory utilization rate. The method includes that if requested data can be stored in a paging allocation memory block, an idle memory block is selected to store the requested data; and if data size is larger than the paging allocation memory block, a part of data of the requested data is stored in the idle memory block, the other part of surplus data is stored in one or a plurality of available memory blocks, and all the memory blocks storing the requested data are connected through indicating needles. The available memory blocks are scattered memory blocks, the size of the scattered memory blocks is not necessarily to be the same as that of the paging allocation memory block, and accordingly memory waste can be avoided to the greatest extent, and memory utilization rate can be improved to the maximum limit.
