An insertion apparatus and a method for use with a device for delivery of a therapeutic fluid into a body of a patient and/or for sensing of a bodily analyte are disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing adapted for loading therein at least one cannula cartridge unit having a protective member. The protective member accommodates at least one penetrating cartridge having a subcutaneously insertable element and a penetrating member. The apparatus includes a displacement mechanism capable of protracting the penetrating cartridge towards the body of the patient, where protraction of the penetrating cartridge results in insertion of the subcutaneously insertable element into the body of the patient.

A lancet device for obtaining a blood sample from a finger or at an alternate site of a patient. The lancet device includes a body and a lancet, the lancet being movable between a retracted position in which the lancet tip is disposed within the body and an extended position in which the lancet tip extends beyond the body. The device is cocked by compressing a U-shaped spring steel accessible on opposite sides of the body, the U-shaped spring steel being coupled to the lancet. Once cocked, a pawl retains the U-shaped spring steel in a compressed state. A ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for use with a power cable which connects a power source to a load. The GFCI includes first and second pairs of terminals which are located at opposite ends of the power cable, the first pair of terminals being designated for connection with the power source and the second pair of terminals being designated for connection with the load. A pair of electrical outlets are connected to the power cable at a location between the first and second pairs of terminals. A first circuit breaker is located in the power cable between the pair of electrical outlets and the second pair of terminals. A ground fault detection circuit detects the presence of a ground fault condition in the power cable and, in turn, generates a trip signal which is used to energize a solenoid that is ganged to the first circuit breaker. In one embodiment, a second circuit breaker is located in the power cable between the first pair of terminals and the pair of electrical outlets, the second circuit breaker being ganged to the first circuit breaker. In this manner, the GFCI provides ground fault protection regardless of whether the power source is connected to the first or second pairs of terminals. In another embodiment, a reverse wiring circuit is provided which generates an artificial ground fault condition when the power source is improperly connected to the second pair of terminals rather than the first pair of terminals.

A tiedown system foundation adapter system provides greater flexibility in spotting equipment on a support surface. An adapter module includes a plate assembly that drops into a slotted track system and is slid along the track system until it fits into an attachment point that restrains the plate assembly from vertical pullout and motion transverse to the track. The plate assembly is then locked into position to restrain it from further translation along the track. An equipment fitting is translatably mounted with respect to the upper surface and attaches to a complementary attachment fitting on the bottom of a piece of equipment.
