The invention provides an S-band dual-polarization base station antenna for mobile 5G communication, and a base station. The antenna comprises a radiation patch, an open circuit matching branch node,a patch metasurface and a coaxial feed probe. The tail end of the coaxial feed probe is connected with the radiation patch, and the open circuit matching branch node is connected with the coaxial feedprobe. The radiation patch comprises a square patch which is etched with four axial symmetrical gaps, and the tail ends of the two coaxial probes are connected with the patch, wherein the distances from the feed points to the center of the patch are equal. The two sections of the open circuit matching branch node are respectively connected with the two coaxial probes and are located below the radiation patch. The multi-patch metasurface layer comprises 12 circular patches and four square patches at four corners, and is located right above the radiation patches. The antenna is simple in structure and low in manufacturing cost, and greatly reduces the profile of the antenna on the premise that the size is guaranteed. The working frequency band covers the 5G frequency band, and the antenna has higher radiation gain, achieves dual polarization and high polarization isolation at the same time, and is good in application prospect.

The generation of the multi-waveband signals is achieved only by using one single-drive modulator, the cost is saved, the adjustment is simple, optimal results are easily obtained, each spectrum component of downstream multi-waveband signals contains data, and accordingly the frequency spectrum utilizing rate is improved.

In the invention, the antenna meets requirements of vertical polarization and omnidirectional radiation; antenna gain reaches 2dB; 3dB beam width of the antenna is 65 degrees; and the width of frequency band below standing wave 2 is about 20 percent.
