Rotorcraft having coaxial counter-rotating rotors which produce both vertical and horizontal thrust and method of controlled flight in all six degrees of freedom

A rotorcraft and method for providing controlled flight which provides flight in all six degrees of freedom of pitch, roll, yaw, up / down, forward / rear, and left / right. The rotorcraft includes a fuselage with a pair of counter-rotating rotor blade assemblies each having a plurality of radially-extending airfoil shaped blades about a vertically disposed central axis. A rotor drive system mounted to the fuselage includes a motor or engine for rotationally driving the rotor blade assemblies. A rotor blade control system monitors the rotational location of each blade relative to the fuselage and allows a pilot to control respective vertical and horizontal thrust components of the blades corresponding to lift versus drag characteristics of the airfoils during rotation about the fuselage. This is done by changing the pitch angles of the blades and / or by utilizing respective flaps pivotally mounted to the blades to change the effective pitch angle of the blades.

Multi-rotor safety shield

The Multi-Rotor Safety Shield (MRSS) provides a complete and substantial encasement system which can be secured about a Drone, protecting a multitude of aircraft components from contact with any outside disturbance and which can protect the sensitive components from dust, water, wind, rain, snow, fingers, toes, appendages of any kind, and atmospheric changes as example, from disabling the Drone and can protect people, places or things from high velocity spinning exposed rotor / propellers. The MRSS provides rigid non-permeable platform for attaching or incorporating additional safety devices as found in the Drone industry (or other industries) resulting in a safety device that completely prevents the loss a Drone due to the catastrophic failure of any Drone system or combination of systems which would typically result in rapid decent, and / or uncontrolled flight. The MRSS makes Drones safe near humans and safe to use around public gatherings, stadium events, accident scenes, disaster search and rescue and disaster relief, and indoors for the security and communications markets among others expanding the availability of Drones to further assist humanity.

Steerable rotating projectile

A method for controlling a flying projectile which rotates during flight, comprising: determining an angle of rotation of an inertial mass spinning about an axis during flight; and controlling at least one actuator for altering at least a portion of an aerodynamic structure, selectively in dependence on the determined angle of rotation and a control input, to control aerodynamic forces during flight. An aerodynamic surface may rotate and interact with surrounding air during flight, to produce aerodynamic forces. A sensor determines an angular rotation of the spin during flight. A control system, responsive to the sensor, produces a control signal in dependence on the determined angular rotation. An actuator selectively alters an aerodynamic characteristic of the aerodynamic surface in response to the control signal.

Thrust generating apparatus

There have been past proposals for air vehicles employing the Coanda effect. In these proposals, a jet of fluid, usually air, is made to flow radially outwardly over 5 a dome-shaped canopy to create lift. A cross-section through the canopy is curved to follow a segment of a circle or it may have a radius of curvature that increases in the direction of flow. In the invention, the radius (r) of the canopy curve decreases towards the downstream direction (x) in a way that is related to the decrease in the width of 10 the jet as it flows over the surface. This means that the radius of curvature decreases (instead of increasing) towards the downstream direction with the rate of decrease being progressively less rapid towards the downstream direction.

Craft with magnetically curved space

A craft can navigate through a magnetically curved space provided by an electromagnetically charged hull. The hull contains a plurality of sectionalized and independent electromagnetic plates forming portions of the hull exterior wall that can be adaptively energized to have a desired polarity. When combined together, these sectionalized plates can provide an ultra high frequency electromagnetic field of a strength that can magnetically curve the space around the craft. This enables the craft to expeditiously travel through air, space or water. A novel energy generating system using a combination of jet engines and high frequency oscillators is also provided.

Unbalanced gyroscopic apparatus for producing unidirectional thrust

An unbalanced gyroscopic apparatus is disclosed for producing unidirectional thrust without having to interact with an external gas, liquid, or solid mass. The technique is based on the controlled transitions of an unbalanced spinning mass between two stable unbalanced weight states resulting in a net unidirectional thrust at the spin axis. In one existing embodiment, an apparatus with an attached body can be propelled up a planar incline "sliding" uphill against terrestrial gravity. In another embodiment, multiple pairs of synchronized and mirror-image, unbalanced gyroscopic assemblies are combined as one apparatus and attached to a body with the potential to propel it in any direction, including defeating gravity completely without interaction with gas, liquid, or solid mass or without use of propellants.

Electrodynamic field generator

This device is a brushless high-voltage electrical generator for producing a high energy external electrodynamic field or continuous quasi-coherent DC corona or arcdischarge of uniformed current density which completely encloses the machine's conductive housing (1). This housing is divided into distinct electrical sections (3-5) and contains a flat conductive rotor (6) electrically links separate negative (3) and positive (5) housing sections and upon which a plurality of toroidal generating coils (35, 40, 56) are rotatably mounted. Circular arrays of stationary permanent magnets (34, 39, 55) are affixed within the housing which induce a constant DC voltage within said coils upon their rotation. The primary voltage generated is electrostatically impressed across the rotor such that great quantities of electronic charge may be transported between the opposite polarity sections (3-5) of the housing, in such a manner that a much higher secondary voltage is caused to appear across interposed neutral sections thereof, and the resulting external breakdown current once initiated is independent of the generating coils'ampacity. Ancillary mechanical, electrical, and / or electronic features may be attached upon or within the housing to aid in harnessing and controlling the useful effects associated with the external dynamic electric field produced by the device.

A fuselage covered by a canopy is mounted atop a bearing on the annular fuel tank. The pitch of each blade may be adjusted collectively and cyclically using a swash ring and hydraulic linear actuators.
