Printed circuit board memory module with embedded passive components

A memory module includes a plurality of memory components mounted on a printed circuit board, and a plurality of passive components embedded within the board directly underneath the memory components to minimize the space occupied by the passive components and the lengths of the required conductive traces. The passive components and the memory components are connected by conductor-filled vias between the contacts of the embedded components and the memory components mounted above them on the board surface. The passive components may be thick film resistors, either series damping resistors or differential damping resistors. By embedding the resistors directly beneath the memory components, there is enough space on the board to provide a set of termination resistors for each of the several memory components on the board, thereby eliminating the need for a single resistor to be shared by two or more memory components, resulting in more precise output signals.

Plating method and apparatus for controlling deposition on predetermined portions of a workpiece

The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for plating a conductive material on a workpiece surface in a highly desirable manner. Using a workpiece-surface-influencing device, such as a mask or sweeper, that preferentially contacts the top surface of the workpiece, relative movement between the workpiece and the workpiece-surface-influencing device is established so that an additive in the electrolyte solution disposed on the workpiece and which is adsorbed onto the top surface is removed or otherwise its amount or concentration changed with respect to the additive on the cavity surface of the workpiece. Plating of the conductive material can place prior to, during and after usage of the workpiece-surface-influencing device, particularly after the workpiece surface influencing device no longer contacts any portion of the top surface of the workpiece, to achieve desirable semiconductor structures.

Thrust generating apparatus

There have been past proposals for air vehicles employing the Coanda effect. In these proposals, a jet of fluid, usually air, is made to flow radially outwardly over 5 a dome-shaped canopy to create lift. A cross-section through the canopy is curved to follow a segment of a circle or it may have a radius of curvature that increases in the direction of flow. In the invention, the radius (r) of the canopy curve decreases towards the downstream direction (x) in a way that is related to the decrease in the width of 10 the jet as it flows over the surface. This means that the radius of curvature decreases (instead of increasing) towards the downstream direction with the rate of decrease being progressively less rapid towards the downstream direction.

Self-Aligning Structures and Method For Integrated Circuits

A lead frame having a die thereon connects a high current conductive area on the die to a lead frame contact using a copper clip that includes a structure portion that is received with a recess-like “tub” formed in the lead frame contact. In the preferred embodiment, a lead frame structure fabricated by etching includes at least one contact that is a half-etch recess or “tub” that receives one end of the clip structure and is retained in the tub by solder paste or an adhesive. The end of the clip that is received in the tub is held in place during subsequent handling until the clip and leadframe undergo solder reflow to effect an electrical connection sufficient to handle the current load and a also effect a reliable mechanical connection. One or more solder-holding pockets are formed a surface portion of the tub and / or the end of the clip that is received in the tub so that a volume of liquefied solder formed during the solder reflow step will effect alignment of any mis-aligned parts by “drawing” at least one of the parts against a “stop” surface.
