Each of the peripheral computer stations include a subsystem for admitting and registering players with the central computer station and a gaming interface subsystem. To ensure security of the electronic gaming system, a player seeking to enter the system transmits an encoded message from their peripheral computer station to the central computer station that includes a set of key attributes associated with the player. The central computer station decodes and compares the transmitted set of key attributes with individual information previously stored in the information protection subsystem in order to identify each player during registration based upon the set of key attributes transmitted by each player. The system may automatically control money transactions with each player's bank accounts based upon the player's scoring and wagers in each selected game.

The present invention relates to a system and methods by which the risk associated with a new opportunity or new or ongoing relationship may be assessed. An example of such new opportunity or new relationship for which the present invention may be used to assess the risk is that concerning a potential new customer of a financial institution. The risk assessment of the present invention may be used to assess whether a new customer should be taken on as a customer and, if so, to what extent should the possible full range of account benefits be provided to the new customer. Other applications include assessing risk regarding a candidate for employment, assessing casualty loss and/or repayment risk in the insurance industry, and assessing risk in a landlord tenant relationship to determine whether or not to rent to the prospective tenant and if so, the amount of the security deposit.

An endoscopic aspiration device is mounted on a manipulating head of an endoscope, from which an elongated insertion rod member is extended forward, the endoscopic aspiration device being composed of a valve casing which is mounted on the manipulation head in communication with an aspiration passage running through the insertion rod member, and a valve assembly unit including a valve member, a valve guide member and a connector member attached to the valve guide member to communicate same with a proximal aspiration passage on the side of a suction source. The valve member is put in a sliding displacement along the valve guide member to bring the aspiration passage into and out of communication with the proximal aspiration passage on the side of a suction source. A computer system including several nonconcurrently active hard disk drives ordinarily loaded with unique software bundles. Each active hard drive introduces an especial operating system setup and applications installation which is unconditionally denied access by activities obtained under another hard disk drive's software instructions. An absolute isolation between two or more user's application programs and data files is achieved while sharing a common set of computer system hardware and peripherals. Each category of nonconcurrent user operates independently without a threat of corruption from activities of another prior or subsequent user utilizing the same computer system for another disparate activity. In an IDE/ATA interface environment, a typical arrangement includes a setting of ROM-BIOS to only recognize a MASTER drive with a subsequent user determined swapping of MASTER and SLAVE modes between at least two hard drives utilizing a manual switch-over to obtain operation under operating system and programs uniquely installed on each of the intently selected MASTER drives, while denying access to the alternant SLAVE drive. A replication method and system for a computer system having multiple database servers for at least one database, wherein database servers are provided with a unified view of the data content. The method includes the steps of establishing connections to said multiple database servers for communicating with said database servers; distinguishing between read and update query requests; and assigning queries to respective ones of said multiple database servers to preserve the consistency of the respective unified view of data of said multiple database servers in case of receiving update queries. Assigning each new query includes the steps of distinguishing between read and update queries, determining possible assignments of that new query to one or more of said multiple database servers, each said possible update query assignment to one of said multiple database servers being based on a transaction-based replication scheme to preserve the unified view data of said multiple database servers; and assigning that new query to one of said multiple database servers as a function of said possible assignments of that new query, to preserve respective unified view of data of said multiple database servers.

The present invention provides methods for preparing a stool sample in order to screen for the presence of indicators of a disease, for example a subpopulation of cancerous or precancerous cells. The methods take advantage of the recognition that cellular debris from cancerous and precancerous cells is deposited onto only a longitudinal stripe of stool as the stool is forming in the colon. Accordingly, methods of the invention comprise obtaining a representative sample, such as a circumferential or cross-sectional sample of stool in order to ensure that any disease indicator, such as cellular debris that is shed by colonic cells, is obtained in the sample.

A single component traction cleat of co-molded hub and dynamic traction portions includes dynamic traction elements flexible about proximal ends secured inboard of and below a hub periphery having cut-outs through which the elements move when flexed. A novel topology sensing methodology is provided for point-to-point link setup among a set of network nodes, which are mobile. The technique provided is TDMA contention-based, where each network node sends pilot signals to announce its existence. Pilot signals transmitted by network nodes are used by surrounding nodes to extract various pieces of information such as node identity, node location and potential link quality. Information collected from pilot signals of neighboring nodes is used in conjunction with other topological criteria to identify the best set of nodes with which a given node should establish links. The topology sensing methodology avoids duplexer problems and attempts to achieve minimum collision by allowing the nodes to continually monitor available pilots and transmit on the least-interference channels. The topology sensing methodology can also optionally make use of GPS information, when available, in order to provide an accurate map for communicating nodes and improve the link setup process.

A haptic for fixation to, and manufacture in conjunction with, an intraocular lens to be implanted in the natural lens capsule of the human eye is disclosed. The haptic secures the lens in an appropriate position within the natural capsule so as to provide optimal visual acuity through the aphakic lens. The haptic ends are designed to position the lens neutrally, anteriorly or posteriorly within the lens envelope. The haptic has a of an anterior retention ring and a posterior retention ring.

The invention provides a program conversion apparatus which performs parallelization for a multi-thread microprocessor on an intermediate program level. A parallelization apparatus of the program conversion apparatus includes a fork spot determination section, a register allocation section and an instruction reordering section. The fork spot determination section determines a fork spot and a fork system based on a result of a register allocation trial performed by the register allocation section, the number of spots at which memory data dependence is present, and branching probabilities and a data dependence occurrence frequency obtained from a profile information file. The instruction reordering section reorders instructions preceding to and succeeding the FORK instruction in accordance with the determination.

The invention is related with network communication, in particular wireless networking. In order to improve bandwidth utilization, a header compression protocol is implemented in most wireless network systems, such as robust header compression ROHC for WLAN systems. When using multicast groups for data communication problems with ROHC are related with relative late initiation of stations that newly enter the multicast group. The invention proposes an improved state machine for the compressor in order to overcome this drawback. It is also proposed an improvement for the decompressors which omit sending positive acknowledgements in order to further improve compression efficiency. The invention also concerns an accordingly improved method for the exchange of data packets in a network of distributed stations.
