Devices for maintaining surgically created openings

Devices and methods are directed to improving the gaseous exchange in a lung of an individual having, for instance, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. More particularly, conduits may be deployed in the lung to maintain collateral openings (or channels) surgically created through airway walls. This tends to facilitate both the exchange of oxygen ultimately into the blood and decompress hyper-inflated lungs. The conduit includes a radially expandable center section having a first end, a second end, and a passageway extending from the first end to the second end. A control segment may be associated with the conduit to limit the degree of radial expansion. The conduit further includes a plurality of deflectable members extending from the ends of the center section. A tissue barrier may coaxially surround the conduit such that tissue ingrowth is prevented. The conduits may also include hold-down members and bioactive coatings that serve to prevent ejection of the conduit as well as prevent narrowing of the passageway due to tissue ingrowth.

Printing system and program

If an ink amount supplied from an ink tank to an ejection head reaches a predetermined limit value, ink ejection is not permitted. If initialization data are input and the input initialization data are appropriate, a count value of the ink amount is initialized, and the ink ejection is started again. In addition, the initialization data which is input once and determined to be appropriate is determined to be inappropriate thereafter. By doing so, although ink of which the property and state are inappropriate is used for the refilling, since appropriate initialization data may not be input, it is possible to avoid the inappropriate ink from being used for the refilling.

During full-speed temperature cooling, all groups of the pipes simultaneously eject liquid nitrogen. When temperature is constant, only one group of liquid nitrogen pipe with cryogenic valve and nozzles is used and micro-adjusted to achieve good temperature stability. The cabinet body can match different types of shaker combinations to perform temperature / vibration test with high transition rate of temperature, and be used as a single high thermal change rate of temperature cabinet, can have relatively great assembly flexibility in response to test requirement. The entire apparatus has higher mobility and flexibility than conventional temperature / vibration cabinets.

Laser machining of a workpiece

The invention relates to a device (1) for cutting wafers (2) into a number of chips with a laser beam (6) injected into a liquid jet (7). A thin flowing liquid layer (9) having a blasting effect is produced on the surface (5) of the wafer (2). This makes it possible to prevent projections resulting during laser cutting from depositing once again on the surface of the wafer. The result is a very high cleanness of the surface after the cutting process. The liquid layer (9) is produced, in particular, so that it is thinner in a machining area (10) around the machining point (8) than outside of the machining area (10). This ensures that the liquid layer is sufficiently thin (14) at the machining point (8) so that enough laser energy for removing material is applied to the wafer surface, and ensures that the liquid layer is sufficiently thick (15) outside of the machining area so that no area of the surface (5) of the wafer (2) dries out.
