The invention relates to the field of
metal materials, and discloses a nucleating agent for improving
pearlite. The nucleating agent comprises the chemical components of, by weight, 0.49-0.51 part of
silicon carbide, 0.025-0.035 part of
tin, 0.025-0.035 part of
antimony, 0.4-0.5 part of
silicon-
manganese-chrome special nucleating agent, and 0.07-0.09 part of
strontium-
silicon. The invention further discloses a method for improving the
pearlite by the nucleating agent. The method specifically comprises the following steps that first, the
silicon carbide accounting for 0.5+ / -0.01% of
liquid iron is added into the surface of the
liquid iron, and stirring is conducted for 3+ / -1 min, wherein the temperature of the
liquid iron is 1450+ / -50 DEG C; second, 0.03+ / -0.005% of the
tin, 0.03+ / -0.005% of the
antimony and 0.45+ / -0.05% of the silicon-
manganese-chrome special nucleating agent are added into a liquid iron transfer
ladle, and the elements are transferred into a pouring
ladle after being poured into the iron liquid; and third, 0.8+ / -0.01% of
strontium and silicon are adopted for
metal-
stream inoculation in the whole process of pouring. According to the nucleating agent and the method, it is ensured that the
pearlite at a
thin wall is larger than 95%, and the
physical property of a cylinder can be improved effectively.
