Compact Winding Mechanism for Crossbow

A crossbow includes an elongated frame coupled to a riser at a first end thereof and attached to an upper housing at its second end generally above the trigger region. The riser supports a pair of flexible limbs, and a bowstring extends between such limbs. A bowstring retractor is provided within the upper housing and includes a rope spool used to wind a retractor rope for retracting the bowstring. First and second spool gears surround the rope spool for rotation therewith. A spur gear mounted on a drive axle engages one of the spool gears, and a crank can be engaged with the drive axle. A pawl engages the other spool gear to prevent unintentional unwinding of the retractor rope from the rope spool. A pawl release member disengages the pawl from its associated spool gear. Drawing the bowstring beyond its full draw position also disengages the pawl.

Angled tissue cutting instrument having variably positionable cutting window, indexing tool for use therewith and method of variably positioning a cutting window of an angled tissue cutting instrument

ActiveUS20050159767A1Directional positioning of cuttingEasy to useEndoscopic cutting instrumentsSurgical sawsEngineering
An angled tissue cutting instrument includes an outer member having an elongate body with a bend and a forward end, and a distal tip rotatably mounted on the forward end. The distal tip and body are rotatable relative to one another about a central longitudinal axis of the tip to variably position a cutting window of the tip in a selected directional position about the axis. Relative rotation between the distal tip and the body about the axis is prevented to lock the cutting window in a selected directional position when the outer member is maintained in a longitudinally extended position by an inner member of the instrument disposed within the outer member. An indexing tool for the angled tissue cutting instrument has a socket for receiving the distal tip to effect rotational indexing. A method of variably positioning a cutting window of an angled tissue cutting instrument involves rotationally indexing a distal tip of an outer member of the instrument and maintaining the distal tip in a selected rotationally indexed position.

The excavator bucket lip has a base having a nose, and the wear assembly includes a wear member having a cavity in which the nose can be received, and an aperture extending between an outside surface of the wear member and the cavity, an internally toothed ring being located within the aperture; and a lock for releasably holding the wear member to the base. The lock includes an operable member and an externally toothed resilient ring, the resilient ring having a central aperture for engagement with the operable member. The operable member and resilient ring are jointly rotatable relative to the cavity and the internally toothed ring between a plurality of rotationally spaced locking positions where the lock secures the wear member to the base with varying tightness, and a release position rotationally spaced from the locking positions. The teeth of the internally toothed ring and the teeth of the resilient ring engage each other in each of the locking positions to reduce the loosening of the lock during use.

Method and apparatus for directional drilling

A bottom-hole assembly for directional drilling incorporates a torque generator with a drive shaft connected to a drill string. The torque generator generates a torque that counters a reactive torque when a drill bit of the bottom-hole assembly is driven. When the drill string is rotated at a static drive speed, a drill tool face of the bottom-hole assembly is stabilized to drill a nonlinear bore segment. When the drill string is rotated at a rotational speed other than the static drive speed the bottom-hole assembly is rotated to drill a linear bore segment.

Adjustable holder for cleaning implement

A dusting device is disclosed. There is a telescoping handle, a shank mountable to the handle, and a supporting fork mounted to the shank for relative rotation with respect thereto. A cleaning sleeve is replaceably mountable on the fork for single use dusting purposes. The angle of the fork with respect to the telescoping handle can be releasably fixed by a catch mechanism. While the catch is sufficiently strong to resist angle adjustment during normal dusting, it permits the angle to be adjusted by firmly pressing the end of the fork (with or without the sleeve thereon) against a wall while holding the distal end of the telescoping handle. This converts the duster from a wall duster, to a duster capable of cleaning the tops of ceiling fan blades, without the need for a consumer to touch a portion of the device near the duster head. In another aspect the device has two such adjustable forks for holding two such sleeves which can be used simultaneously.

Dispenser for pressurized beverage bottle

A beverage release cap over a bottle cap of a plastic carbonated beverage bottle for dispensing a beverage, without losing gasses inside the bottle, when the bottle is inverted or partially inverted for pouring. The beverage release cap has three distinct functional and physical sections. A lower section engaging a bottle rim below the bottle cap and snapping over the bottle rim, thereby retaining the beverage release cap to the bottle while providing a seal and permitting a twisting rotation of the beverage release cap. A middle section gripping the bottle cap with vertical, equally spaced ribs, a space between the ribs allowing beverage to flow between the bottle cap and the beverage release cap. An upper section providing a path for the beverage to flow from the middle section. The beverage release cap may alternatively be a replacement to the standard bottle cap.
