Leadframe strip having enhanced testability

A method of fabricating a semiconductor package comprising the step of providing a leadframe strip which defines a strip plane and a multiplicity of leadframes. Each of the leadframes includes an outer frame defining a central opening and a die pad disposed within the central opening. Each leadframe further includes a plurality of leads which are attached to the outer frame and extend toward the die pad in spaced relation to each other. The outer frames are integrally connected to each other and collectively define connecting bars which extend in multiple rows and columns and define saw streets. Semiconductor dies are attached to respective ones of the die pads, with the semiconductor dies being mechanically and electrically connected to the leads of respective ones of the leadframes. Thereafter, an encapsulant material is applied to the leadframe strip to form at least one mold cap which at least partially encapsulates the leadframes, the semiconductor dies, and the conductive wires. The leadframe strip and the mold cap collectively define a package strip. Isolation cuts are formed through the package strip along at least some of the saw streets to effectively electrically isolate the leadframes from each other.

Apparatus and method for detection of railroad wheel and bearing temperature

An apparatus and method is provided for detecting a temperature range or a temperature of a railroad train wheel or bearing wherein infrared radiation radiating from the wheel or bearing of a train traversing a railroad track is indicative of a temperature range of the wheel or bearing. The apparatus comprises a sensor for sensing infrared radiation radiating from the wheel or bearing within two or more infrared wavelength ranges. The sensor generates signals indicative of the sensed infrared radiation in each of the wavelength ranges. A processor determines a temperature range or a temperature of the wheel or bearing from the generated signals. The method detects a temperature range of a railroad train wheel or bearing wherein infrared radiation radiating from the wheel or bearing of a train traversing a railroad track is indicative of the temperature range of the wheel or bearing. The method includes sensing infrared radiation radiating from the wheel or bearing within two or more wavelength ranges of the infrared radiation. Signals are generated that are indicative of the sensed infrared radiation in each infrared wavelength range. A temperature range or a temperature of the wheel or bearing is determined from the generated signals.

Melt-crystallization separation and purification process

Processes for separating a solid from a solids-liquids slurry under conditions that prevent ingress of molecular oxygen are advantageous where the presence of molecular oxygen would otherwise reduce efficiencies, contribute to limited product yields, and potentially compromise safe operation of the process or downstream unit operations. Among the various embodiments disclosed herein, is a process utilizing filter columns as solid-liquid separators in combination with crystallization and reslurry unit operations to recover a product component from an initial feed mixture of miscible components. Embodiments of the disclosed processes may include the separation and purification of a product component using a crystallizer in series with a filter column followed by a chemical reactor, using a reslurry drum in series with a filter column, and using a combination of crystallizers and / or reslurry drums in series with at least one filter column. The use of filter columns in such processes is particularly attractive because these columns, when operated under the conditions disclosed herein, limit the undesirable ingress of molecular oxygen into the various process streams, and further improve process efficiencies related to both product component recovery and operating costs.
