Dynamic damping element for two bones

A damping element for the dynamic stabilization of two bones, particularly of two adjacent bodies of the vertebra, includes a flexible spring element having a hollow space. The hollow space is open on a first end and closed on a second end by a wall extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of the damping element. A clamping sleeve is inserted at least partially into the hollow space. The sleeve has a front end directed towards the wall of the flexible spring element. The distance between the front end and the wall affects the damping characteristics of the damping element. A coaxial connecting element is attached to each end of the flexible spring element. Each connecting element is configured to be connected within an osteosynthetic stabilizing device.

Method and communication station for transmitting data

In a method for the error-monitored transmission of data via interfaces of a multi-step communication system, the data is transmitted from a transmitter station to a data-receiving station via at least two relay stations which are connected therebetween and receive and further transmit the data parallel to each other. The data is retransmitted if the transmission has been insufficient due to a request from the receiver end and / or due to the lack of a confirmation from the receiver end. In order to increase performance while reducing power consumption of the system, the request or confirmation is generated only by the receiver station and is sent back to the transmitter station. The relay stations consequently do not generate any confirmations or requests.

The upper apposition plate is placed on the upper end of the middle part such that it is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The upper apposition plate is suited for resting against the base plate of a vertebral body. The lower apposition plate is placed on the lower end of the middle part such that it is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The lower apposition plate is suited for resting against the cover plate of a vertebral body. The middle part has at least two coaxially arranged plate springs, which gives the middle part a progressive spring characteristic.

Dispensing device with piston pump

The invention relates to a foam-dispensing device for dispensing a foam, comprising a manually operated pump assembly. The pump assembly comprises a liquid piston pump for pumping the liquid, and an air pump for pumping air, the liquid and air to be pumped being mixed together to form a foam which is dispensed through a dispensing aperture. The liquid piston pump comprises a pump housing, for example a cylinder, a liquid piston which is movable telescopically in the pump housing, and one or more sealing elements to be fixed on the liquid piston in order to seal the liquid piston in the pump housing. The liquid piston comprises at least two locations for fixing the one or more sealing elements. The invention further relates to a kit for producing a piston with one or more sealing elements for such a dispensing device, and a method for producing a piston pump for such a dispensing device.

Optical Apparatus

An optical apparatus for use in an optical communications network, and a method of operating a network are described. The apparatus includes an input suitable for receiving a first continuous wave optical signal from a remote location on a network, and a modifying unit arranged to modify the first continuous wave optical signal to produce a second continuous wave optical signal having a wavelength which is different from the wavelength of the first continuous wave optical signal. A modulating unit is arranged to modulate the second continuous wave optical signal with data to produce a modulated second continuous wave optical signal.

Personal carrier-mounted dog leash with distal stiffener

A dog leash having a stiffener and a mast, the latter connected to a clamp by a flexible coupling. Moored to the clamp by a cord, the stiffener protrudes outwardly from the mast's end distal from the clamp. Built up by encasing a cord segment and the base of a clip in a semi-rigid plastic sheath, the stiffener directly links the clip to the mast. Because, in use, the stiffener and the clip ride attached to the dog's collar without slapping or flopping around randomly so as to confuse the animal, the leash can transmit nonverbal communication free of extraneous signals from the user of a personal carrier to a tethered dog. The dog can be then trained quickly and easily controlled, making possible the leash's use not only on bicycles but also, once they have been retrofitted with a universal mounting bracket, on wheelchairs and other personal carriers.

Tow assembly for a trailer

A convertible trailer assembly is provided that can be pushed or pulled. The trailer assembly can be converted between pushed or pulled operation or provided as a retrofit assembly for a stroller that allows its conversion between pushed or pulled operation. The Assembly includes a linkage assembly to provide a smoother towing experience for the user. The linkage uniquely takes up the constant jarring motion that is incompatible as between the user and the trailer and dissipates it in a toggle that consists of a lever extending upwardly from a tow point on the trailer. When accelerating or going uphill the toggle pulls forward, at equilibrium the toggle motion absorbs the incremental differences in acceleration / deceleration and at the rear limit of its range of motion, the toggle pushes a brake actuator to slow the trailer.

Grain cart

A grain cart includes front wheels steerable about respective upright and rearwardly inclined steering axes arranged in a trailing self-steering configuration and rear wheel assemblies which are fixed in a forward working direction. The front wheel assemblies are fixed to the main frame of the cart except for the pivotal movement about the steering axes. The rear wheel assemblies are supported on a rear axle support member coupled by a rear suspension to the main frame so as to be arranged for rocking movement about a forward longitudinal axis. The grain cart optionally incorporates a load scale integrally into the main frame, as well as a hitch arm actuator to transfer of some of the load from the grain cart wheels to the towing vehicle by actuating the hitch arm to pivot the hitch arm downward relative to the main frame.
