Disclosed are oxygen-scavenging polymer compositions having high transparency and low haze comprising immiscible blends of at least one polyester comprising 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol, a copolyamide or a transamidized, homogeneous blend of a least two polyamides, and a metal catalyst. The components of the immiscible blend which have refractive indices which differ by about 0.006 to about −0.0006. The small difference in the refractive indices enable the incorporation of regrind into the polymer composition to produce transparent shaped articles. The blends of the present invention are useful in producing shaped articles such as, for example, sheeting, films, tubes, bottles, preforms and profiles. These articles may have one or more layers and can exhibit improved excellent barrier properties and good melt processability while retaining excellent mechanical properties.

Method and apparatus for high speed electron beam rapid prototyping

An electron beam as a curing technique with dynamic beam control technology in order to produce arbitrarily shaped parts. The result of this is equipment which can create prototypes and parts rapidly without additional tooling. The electron beam from a low divergence gun is accelerated towards uncured monomer in vacuum. Deflection of the beam combined with a grid which is used to turn the beam on and off, creates a two dimensional curing path with a depth of approximately five (5) thousandths of inch. Successive layers of this type, built up as monomer is added, creates a three dimensional pattern. The layers can either be of uniform thickness, or can be varied in thickness by varying the energy of the beam.

A heat shield element can be mounted on the supporting structure whereby forming an interior space which is delimited in areas by a hot gas wall to be cooled, with an inlet channel for admitting a coolant into the interior space. According to the invention, a coolant discharge channel is provided for the controlled discharge of coolant from the interior space and, from the interior space, leads into the gap. Coolant can be saved and efficiently used by the specific coolant discharge via the coolant discharge channel, and reduction in pollutant emissions can also be achieved. The heat shield arrangement is particularly suited for linking a combustion chamber of a gas turbine.

Self-cleaning filter apparatus

A self-cleaning filter system is disclosed that includes an inlet fitting that is adapted to be inserted into an existing filter body. A spray tube having a plurality of outlets that slideably engages the inlet fitting, is positioned in the ring discs of the existing filter and a compression member proximate to one end of the ring discs applies a compressive force to the ring discs. When fluid enters the spray tube from the inlet fitting compression on the ring discs is reduced to allow the ring discs to separate while fluid pressure is simultaneously imposed on the ring discs through a plurality of outlets to clean the filter component. The parts included with the system may be used to convert a manual filter into a self-cleaning filter system.

To prevent the loading by these individual components from being excessively compacted by the weight of the device during multiple travel over the dump during the moving process, the belt drives with the driving drum are accommodated in the tail element (70), which is supported on the soil next to the leach pad. In addition, the traveling tripper (8) is designed as an independent unit with the belt drums, additional belt drives and the belt-tensioning means, which unit is autarchically displaceable on a caterpillar-type moving gear (85) of its own. Due to the moving of the belt on the caterpillar-type moving gears of the standard segments (711-n), on the head segment (72) and on the traveling tripper (8) as well as due to the absorption of the weight of the tail segment (70) by the transfer carriage (6), the surface pressure acting locally on the dump is reduced and the compaction of the ore on the dump due to being traveled over by the belt conveyor system remains low. Traveling over with a moving device, which frequently happens with the use of a moving caterpillar, is eliminated.
