Vascular closure methods and apparatuses

InactiveUS20070060895A1Prevent intravascular migrationKeep woundInfusion syringesIntravenous devicesVascular closure deviceVascular device
A vascular closure device comprised of a sheath-delivered expandable, umbrella-like device with structural radial members with terminal and non-terminal hooks that engage the vessel wall. Unlike other vascular closure umbrella-type devices that effect closure by opening of the umbrella to cover an opening, the present invention effects closure of the aperture with closure of the umbrella. The closure can be maintained by a retainer lock that slides down the members, causing contraction, bringing the members into a compressed configuration (e.g., a parallel orientation of linear members) and the wound edges together, permitting immediate vascular closure and healing of the blood vessel. The device can be delivered and recovered by an intravascular sheath.

Vascular closure methods and apparatuses

A vascular closure device comprising a retrievable sheath-delivered contractible, clip device with structural radial or terminal members with terminal and non-terminal hooks that engage the vessel wall. Unlike other vascular closure clips, this device is delivered on the outside rather than the inside of sheath. Closure of the tissue opening can be effected by the feet of the clip engaging the puncture, aperture, or wound edges and memory characteristics of the device cause a contraction of the members, bringing the members into apposition and the wound edges together, permitting immediate vascular closure and healing of the blood vessel. The device can be delivered and recovered by an intravascular sheath.

Monitoring writes using thread-local write barrier buffers and soft synchronization

During garbage collection, writes to objects being copied (relocated) are monitored (tracked) using a write barrier that uses a thread-local write barrier buffer. In the preferred embodiment, soft synchronization is used for reading the thread-local write barrier buffers. In response to detecting a write to an object, the object may be re-copied, the copying may be made to fail, the write may be propagated to another copy of the object, or, e.g., another node in a distributed system may be notified of the write.

Designs of an MPTCP-Aware Load Balancer and Load Balancer Using the Designs

MPTCP connections and their corresponding TCP subfiows are routed by a load balancer toward backends. Each MPTCP connection is routed to a single backend and is able to include primary and secondary TCP subfiows. Routing includes performing, responsive to setting up a primary TCP subflow of an MPTCP connection, load balancing of the connection to select a backend for the connection. The MPTCP connections and their TCP subflows are tracked by the load balancer to route the MPTCP connections and their corresponding TCP subfiows to corresponding selected backends. A backend determines whether a request by a client to set up a primary TCP subflow of an MPTCP connection already includes a key used to generate a token used to uniquely identify the MPTCP connection from other MPTCP connections. The backend generates the token based on the key. The backend uses the token to distinguish subsequent communications for the MPTCP connection.

Method for measuring a color property of a liquid

A method for measuring a color property of a pressurized flowing liquid under test in a way that mitigates the disruption of light is characterized by contacting the liquid under test is against a transparent partition that is spaced a predetermined distance from a transparent window. The partition has a predetermined index of refraction and has a thickness dimension that is less than that of the window. At least some of the radiation reflected from the liquid undergoes total internal reflection within the partition while, simultaneously, evanescent coupling of that reflected radiation into the material of the window is prevented. The prevention of evanescent coupling into the material of the window is accomplished by: i) disposing a medium having an index of refraction less than that of the partition between the window and the partition, and ii) maintaining the spacing between the window and the partition to a distance not less than three (3) times the wavelength of the interrogating radiation.
