Override Of Nonoccupancy Status In a Thermostat Device Based Upon Analysis Of Recent Patterns Of Occupancy

A thermostat system with a thermostat control program is disclosed for controlling a Heating Ventilation and / or Air Conditioning (HVAC) system which incorporates a mechanism for detecting activity or occupancy in a room, area or conditioned space served by the HVAC system. The thermostat control program analyzes levels, counts or other aspects of activity detected in the conditioned space, with an operating sequence which may include pattern recognition techniques. The operating sequence of the thermostat control program may further depend upon time of day, and upon periods of time identified as being periods for special handling of occupancy, or the recognition of occupancy. These factors may then be utilized by the thermostat control program to influence determination of the temperature setpoint, or to select from alternative programming provided either by the user of the thermostat, or by factory programming, with purpose of balancing energy savings and comfort.

Bag slitting apparatus

A bag slitting apparatus for opening a sealed bag along an edge of the bag. The apparatus has a first arm having first outer and inner surfaces, and a second arm having second outer and inner surfaces. The arms are in tensioned movable opposed relationship to each other such that the first and second inner surfaces are movably positionable against each other. One of these inner surfaces is a bladed inner surface having projecting therefrom a bag cutting blade with a distal blade tip, while the other inner surface has a blade tip receiver. Exteriorly, the first and second outer surfaces are concavedly contoured for simultaneous opposingly-squeezing receipt of a finger and thumb of a user. Placing the edge of the bag between the blade tip and blade tip receiver, squeezing the arms together such that the blade tip pierces the bag and travels to the tip receiver, and thereafter sliding the apparatus along the length of the bag edge produces a slit in the bag through which contents can be retrieved.

Method for the continuous production of hydrogen

InactiveUS6395252B1Low costEasy and relatively inexpensive to regenerateHydrogen productionChemical recyclingOrganic acidPresent method
The present invention is a method for the continuous production of hydrogen. The present method comprises reacting a metal catalyst with a degassed aqueous organic acid solution within a reaction vessel under anaerobic conditions at a constant temperature of <=80° C. and at a pH ranging from about 4 to about 9. The reaction forms a metal oxide when the metal catalyst reacts with the water component of the organic acid solution while generating hydrogen, then the organic acid solution reduces the metal oxide thereby regenerating the metal catalyst and producing water, thus permitting the oxidation and reduction to reoccur in a continual reaction cycle. The present method also allows the continuous production of hydrogen to be sustained by feeding the reaction with a continuous supply of degassed aqueous organic acid solution.
