Provided is a surface plasmon antenna that can be set so that the emitting position on the end surface of the plasmon antenna where near-field light is emitted is located sufficiently close to the end of a magnetic pole. The surface plasmon antenna comprises an edge having a portion for coupling with a light in a surface plasmon mode. The edge is provided for propagating surface plasmon excited by the light and extends from the portion to a near-field light generating end surface that emits near-field light. The edge for propagating surface plasmon is a very narrow propagation region. Therefore, the near-field light generating end surface, which appears as a polished surface processed through polishing in the manufacturing of the plasmon antenna, can be made a shape with a very small size, and further can be set so that surface plasmon propagates to reach the end surface reliably.

An adaptive spindle motor startup method includes applying an internal driving voltage to a disk drive, sensing an internal temperature of the disk drive, and controlling the startup of a spindle motor by adjusting a startup factor related to a startup current applied to the spindle motor corresponding to the sensed temperature. Thus, the delay of time to reach a target rotation rate is prevented in the spindle motor in an extreme environment, for example at temperatures lower or higher than 25° C. The overall startup time is efficiently optimized through the improvement of the startup method of the spindle motor.

A method and an apparatus for operating an open-end spinning unit, which comprises a spinning rotor 1 that rotates during the spinning operation at a high rotational speed in a closed rotor housing 2. Lubrication structure in OHC engine

An OHC engine includes a valve operation system housed in a valve operation chamber formed between a cylinder head and a head cover joined to the cylinder head. The OHC engine also includes timing transmitting device disposed between the valve operation system and a crankshaft, the timing transmitting means including a driven wheel that rotates together with the valve-operating cam and a transmission belt that is wrapped around the driven wheel so that oil within a crankcase can accompany the transmission belt and be supplied to the valve operation chamber. The head cover is provided with an arc-form curved cover part for covering the upper part of the driven wheel. The curved cover part integrally includes above the driven wheel a plurality of oil splashing ribs that are positioned at intervals along the rotational direction of the driven wheel to project toward the side that is closer to the transmission belt, thereby allowing oil to be supplied uniformly to each section of the valve operation system.
