Translucent wear resistant dental enamel material and method

A method and material for forming translucent wear resistant dental enamel and the dental enamel material formed which has an opacity less than 50 percent and a localized wear volume loss of less than 0.025 mm3. The dental enamel material is formed from a polymerizable matrix and a filler. The material for forming translucent wear resistant dental enamel having an opacity less than 50 percent, a localized wear volume loss of less than 0.025 mm3 and a localized extended wear volume loss of less than 0.04 mm3, comprises a polymerizable matrix forming liquid and inorganic filler particles. The liquid comprises polymerizable material having a first refractive index. The filler comprising a first plurality of particles having a second refractive index. The first plurality of particles being formed from a low and a high median particle size plurality of particles. The low median particle size plurality of particles having a median particle size between 0.1 and 1.0 micrometers. The high median particle size plurality of particles having a median particle size between 1 and 10 micrometers. The first refractive index being within 5 percent of said second refractive index. More preferably the low median particle size plurality of particles have a median particle size between 0.3 and 0.7 micrometers, and said high median particle size plurality of particles have a median particle size between 1 and 2 micrometers. More preferably the filler further comprises a second plurality of filler particles having an average particle size of from about 0.01 to about 0.04 micrometers.

Precision cast dental instrument

An endodontic file (200) is provided particularly adapted for the removal of tooth structure, decayed or damaged nerve tissues or dentine material on the interior walls of a root canal or dentine and / or enamel from the external tooth wall. The endodontic instrument includes a shaft (202) having a shank portion (204) and a generally elongated working portion (206). The working portion preferably includes cutting or abrading features (232) adapted upon rotation and / or reciprocation of the instrument to cut, abrade or remove tissue from the interior walls of a root canal or dentine and / or enamel from the external tooth wall. The working portion extends from a proximal end (207) adjacent the shank portion to a distal end (208) terminating at a tip (250). The entire instrument and / or at least the working portion thereof is formed of an amorphous or essentially amorphous material having no or essentially no detectable crystalline structure and / or from a nanocrystalline material having an average crystalline grain size less than about 1 μm. The instrument may be formed by conventional grinding operations or by direct casting, forging or molding, in a manner producing an integral as-molded instrument having one or more sharp cutting edges. The instrument is inexpensive to manufacture and exhibits improved cutting-edge sharpness, wear resistance, lubriciousness and resistance to breakage.

Alginate dentifrice composition and preparation method thereof

The invention provides an alginate dentifrice composition, belonging to the field of personal care products. The alginate dentifrice composition comprises alginate, a zinc ion source, a fluorine-releasing anti-caries agent provided by a nano-scale fluorine-doped zirconia powder, and a desensitizing material provided by a bioactive glass microsphere loading a catechinic acid substance. A method forpreparing the alginate dentifrice composition includes combining the liquid material and the powder material in the raw materials to prepare a mixture, and then combining a surfactant into the mixture, and mixing in a vacuum environment to obtain the dentifrice composition. The astringency of the dentifrice composition is neutralized, and the dentifrice composition can reduce hypersensitivity ofdentin, induce enamel regeneration and enhance porcelain gloss of the tooth surface, relieve oral mucosa, periodontal tissue and pulp damage, and promote formation of prothrombin to reduce bleeding time of gums. The preparation method can promote the phenomenon of agglomeration of anti-caries agent particles and generate tetragonal phase crystals, reduce system energy consumption, increase glass particle loading capacity and hydroxyapatite mineralization production, and improve resource utilization rate and effective yield.

Pre-mineralization natural polysaccharide based hydrogel and preparation method and application thereof

The invention discloses pre-mineralization natural polysaccharide based hydrogel and a preparation method and application thereof. The preparation method comprises the steps of enabling calcium phosphorus salt to dissolve in an acylation natural polysaccharide material aqueous solution, then adding a sulfhydrylation sodium alginate polysaccharide material aqueous solution, performing uniform mixing, adding a beta-sodium glycerophosphate solution, and adjusting pH to 7.0-8.0 so as to obtain the pre-mineralization natural polysaccharide based hydrogel. After the pre-mineralization natural polysaccharide based hydrogel is subjected to freeze drying, dialysis in an alkaline phosphatase solution of which the mass concentration is 1-10% is performed for 12-48h, and freeze drying is performed sothat a hydroxyapatite-contained mineralization natural polysaccharide based hydrogel support material is obtained. The prepared pre-mineralization gel can be subjected to in situ mineralization, and calcium phosphorus salt crystals similar to natural hydroxyapatite in teeth are obtained; besides, the prepared pre-mineralization natural polysaccharide based hydrogel can effectively and uniformly penetrate into the inner parts of canaliculi dentales, so that trouble caused by odonthemodia due to dental caries to patients can be overcome, and damaged dentine and dental enamel structures are repaired.
