Adjustable-depth crankbait fishing lure

An adjustable-depth crankbait fishing lure for use in catching fish at user-selectable depths. The crankbait fishing lure is made of a buoyant yet hard body having the shape and general appearance of a bait fish. Attached to the body are at least one fish hook and a means to attach the body to a fishing line. Pivotable lateral fins are located at each side of the body and are user adjustable for either water surface operation or operation at varying depths. A means is provided, substantially enclosed within the body, for allowing both the user to select the desired fin pitch corresponding to a specific water depth, and in some embodiments, for automatically returning the fins to the original pitch setting if the pitch setting is disturbed due to underwater snags or fish strikes. In addition, the fishing lure is designed so that the means for changing the fin pitch is protected against inadvertent changes due to fish strikes, snags, or other underwater menaces. Furthermore, one embodiment includes a new system for rotating a shaft through part of a rotation when another parallel shaft rotates through part of a rotation in the same direction; this system has applications beyond fishing lures.

Fishing lure having snap-on cover

A fishing lure includes a crankbait body and a cover. The cover has a color or design which differs from that of the crankbait body, so that installation of the cover effectively changes the appearance of the crankbait body. The cover includes a shell that is vacuum formed over the crankbait body, so that the cover is resiliently held over that body. The cover also includes cut-outs defining side flaps which become engaged with a dive bar of the crankbait body, when the cover is attached to that body. The cover is therefore unlikely to become dislodged during the rigors of fishing, yet is can be easily removed by hand, by twisting the cover so that the flaps become disengaged from the dive bar. The invention substantially simplifies the process of changing the effective color or design of a crankbait, and reduces the expense of doing so.

Luminous fishing bait and preparation method thereof

The invention relates to bait, in particular to luminous fishing bait and a preparation method thereof. The luminous fishing bait comprises the following ingredients in part by weight: 10-30 parts of maize meal, 10-20 parts of flour, 20-40 parts of bran, 3-15 parts of white sugar, 0.3-5 parts of fluorescent powder, 10-20 parts of phagostimulant, 0.5-5 parts of preservative and 20-50 parts of water. First the maize meal, the flour, the bran, the white sugar, the fluorescent powder, the phagostimulant and the preservative are mixed uniformly; and then the mixture is added with the water and is stirred uniformly. As the fluorescent powder is added to the bait, the light emitted by the bait can induce a fish in water to eat the bait, and the change of the light can help a fisherman to judge the position of the fish in water and the bait eating condition of the fish, thus improving the success rate of fishing.

Non-snagging protective guide for fish tapes

A means for encasing a connection zone formed by joining an end of a fish tape to an object, e.g., a cable or wire, to be fished through an opening and / or conduit. The encasing means preferably is a protective guide being a hollow tube generally cone or funnel shaped for encasing the connection zone. By encasing the connection zone, the protective guide creates a smooth transition from the relatively small fish tape wire to the relatively large object being fished. The protective guide reduces the likelihood of the connection zone getting snagged on an opening or conduit through which a wire or cable is to be fished. The protective guide can have one or more lateral slits through its outer surface and extending from a second larger end toward a first smaller end for decreasing the outside diameter of the protective guide upon the exertion of pressure against the protective guide. The lateral slits allow the protective guide to adapt to external inward pressure applied, for example, by the walls of a narrow cavity or opening.

Brake for a fishing reel

PCT No. PCT / DE95 / 01454 Sec. 371 Date Apr. 14, 1999 Sec. 102(e) Date Apr. 14, 1999 PCT Filed Oct. 18, 1995With known fishing reels of the anti-reverse type, i.e. reels wherein the crank stops when the line is pulled off, the braking force is the same when pulling the line off or when reeling it in. This property is disadvantageous when fighting a fish. The brake of the novel reel is intended to provide the effect of the braking force being greater when reeling in than when the line is pulled off. The object is attained in that a pressure element 8, which is fixed against relative rotation, is assigned to the disk 3 and is provided on its front face with inclined planes, in whose lowest point revolving bodies 9 are located, which are supported in the lowest points of the inclined plane of the crank 10, which is rotatable on the hollow shaft 5. Balls 11 are assigned to the opposite side of the crank 10, which are supported on the ring 12 fastened on the hollow shaft 5. The revolving bodies 9 generate an axial force on the inclined planes when the crank 10 is turned opposite the line being pulled off, which acts in addition to the set braking force.

Spear gun with retractable string mechanism

The spear fishing gun with a reliable and effective retractable mechanism is provided. The spear gun consists of the gun shaft, firing device, handle (including grip) and gripped trigger, retractable spear mechanism, and the stopper of string to prevent the spear, from ramming into the retractable string device during retraction. As soon as the spear is shot and the diver sees that he misses, he presses on the spring trigger retracting string mechanism and the spear comes back to the gun. If the spear pierces the fish, the diver can now press the retractable string device to either release the string or retracts it to collect the fish. The retractable string mechanism is equipped with a large spool which allows the diver to shoot at long along with short distances. The spool does not allow the string to unwind completely and waste time to rewind. This is regulated by a controlling button. There is also a screw which adjusts spring power and regulates the speed and looseness of the string during retraction while the stopper prevents the spear from ramming into the retractable string device during retraction. The stopper is a plastic, metal, or glass ball, or it may have other shape. Diameter or section of the stopper is larger than that of the string guide of the retractable mechanism. The same screw which is used for regulating spring power also functions as the on and off button for the retractable string mechanism. The invention is suitable for both general types of the spear fishing guns: (a) the rubber-powered, or sling-type spear gun, and (b) the pneumatic spear gun, which utilizes an air-driven piston to drive the spear shaft down a rifle-like barrel.

The pivotal movement of the axis pin which holds the spool, from horizontal position to a downward vertical position, triggers both a flag and an electric light notification. The lower end of the upright portion of the rigid support is adaptable to attach to different bases as a means for support.

The invention discloses a fishing capsule containing a fish luring agent and a processing method of the fishing capsule. A capsule shell capable of being rapidly disintegrated in water is formed by sleeving a left capsule shell and a right capsule shell. A strip-shaped notch is axially formed in the open end of the upper end of the right capsule shell. Multiple through holes are formed in the capsule shell. The capsule shell is prepared from, by weight, 4-8 parts of sodium carboxymethyl starch, 90-95 parts of ground calcium carbonate, 1-3 parts of musk powder, a proper amount of effervescent disintegrant and a proper amount of color master batch. The effervescent disintegrant is a mixture prepared from sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. The components are weighed according to weight parts and mixed and stirred to be uniform, clear water is added, the mixture is stirred and dissolved evenly, and the capsule shell is prepared. The situation that people are hurt by fishing hooks and bait disengages can be avoided, and the fishing capsule can be rapidly disintegrated in the water and achieves an obvious food calling function on fish stocks. The invention further provides a method for processing the capsule shell with the functions.
