Automated exchange for matching bids between a party and a counterparty based on a relationship between the counterparty and the exchange

InactiveUS6405180B2Tight spreadReduced volume (risk)Special service provision for substationFinanceOrder formCourse of action
In an automated exchange system means are provided by means of which a market maker can enter a course of action in advance, so that the volume in the orderbook is continuously updated, and where the updating is performed differently with respect to different counter parts. Also, quotes that may result in a trade between Market Makers are hidden for some time before being matched, thus giving the Market Makers a chance to back off. The system employs a function that supports that Market Makers through pre-defined parameters will have new orders generated by the system and that a market maker can act differently with respect to different counterparts. The parameters specify if a Market Maker should add extra volume on an existing price or generate a new order at a worse price. In order to make it possible for market makers to have a very tight spread without forcing them to take larger risks, additional logic is used when matching orders. The algorithm used for this purpose protects the market makers in certain situations and gives market makers the possibility to have a tight spread without taking a large risk. The algorithm also supports that the market makers can take the risk to quote large volumes.

Method and system for facilitating automated interaction of marketable retail orders and professional trading interest at passively determined prices

InactiveUS7035819B1Increase attractivenessReduce and eliminate traditional remunerationFinancePayment architectureIndication of interestApproaches of management
A method and system for an automated trading network that continuously collects invisible, anonymous, binding orders and indications of interest to buy and sell specific equity securities at variable, passively determined prices and, then, executes trades based on these collected orders and indications. In general, the binding orders are collected from retail broker-dealers and the binding indications are collected from institutions. The variable, passively determined, non-discrete prices can be linked to the National Best Bid or Offer (NBBO) for each security, or some other prevailing market indicator, at the time a trade is executed. In an embodiment of the method and system, marketable retail orders which match with one or more collected institutional indications, are routed from a Dynamic Order Router (DOR) at each broker-dealer to a Central Order-Match Box (COMB) to be executed against the one or more matched collected institutional indications. The COMB also manages most other aspects of transactions in the method and system and continuously executes trades against the collected institutional indications at improved prices relative to the NBBO.

System and method for applying a reflectance modifying agent to improve the visual attractiveness of human skin

A computer-controlled system determines attributes of a frexel, an area of human skin, and applies a modifying agent (RMA) at the pixel level, typically to make the skin appear more youthful and so more attractive. The system scans the frexel, identifies unattractive attributes, and applies the RMA, typically with an inkjet printer. The identified attributes relate to reflectance and may refer to features such as irregular-looking light and dark spots, age-spots, scars, and bruises. Identified attributes may also relate to the surface topology of the skin, for more precisely enhancing surface irregularities such as bumps and wrinkles. Feature mapping may be used, for example to make cheeks appear pinker and cheekbones more prominent. The RMA can be applied in agreement with identified patterns, such as adding red to a red frexel, or in opposition, such as adding green or blue to a red frexel, according to idealized models of attractiveness.

Modular intraocular lens designs and methods

ActiveUS20130190868A1Minimize for interference in lightAvoid interferenceEye surgeryIntraocular lensIntraocular lensOptical correction
A modular IOL system including intraocular primary and secondary components, which, when combined, form an intraocular optical correction device, wherein the secondary component is placed on the primary component within the perimeter of the capsulorhexis, thus avoiding the need to touch or otherwise manipulate the capsular bag. The secondary component may be manipulated, removed, and / or exchanged for a different secondary component for correction or modification of the optical result, on an intra-operative or post-operative basis, without the need to remove the primary component and without the need to manipulate the capsular bag. The primary component may have haptics extending therefrom for centration in the capsular bag, and the secondary component may exclude haptics, relying instead on attachment to the primary lens for stability. Such attachment may reside radially inside the perimeter of the capsulorhexis and radially outside the field of view to avoid interference with light transmission.

Five-freedom degree dermaskeleton type upper limb rehabilitation robot interactive rehabilitation training control policy

The invention provides a five-degree of freedom exoskeleton-type upper limb recovery robot interactive recovery training control strategy. The strategy comprises two training patterns corresponding to the different recovery period of a patient, i.e. a passive interactive recovery training control strategy and an active-auxiliary interactive recovery training control strategy; during passive movement, a surface myoelectric signal of relevant muscles on a healthy upper limb of a patient is picked up and taken as the movement intention of the patient, thereby controlling a robot to drive a diseased side to realize movement passive training; during active movement, the movement intention of an upper limb of a human body is judged through acquiring in real time the arthrosis force moment generated by a diseased limb acting on the robot during movement, and an applied force is converted into the velocity quantity of the tail end of a mechanical arm by means of a proportional controller, thereby driving the robot to follow the intention so as to carry out recovery active-auxiliary training of the diseased limb. The five-degree of freedom exoskeleton-type upper limb recovery robot interactive recovery training control strategy can provide all-around recovery training movement for a clinic hemiplegia patient, thereby increasing the activeness of the patient in recovery training and the confidence of the patient in recovery; meanwhile, the recovery training control strategy also increases the attractiveness of a recovery process and promotes recovery efficacy.

Award system with increased payout options

A cash rebate award system with increased payout options is presented, wherein a consumer using a financial alternative to currency is rewarded based on the purchases made by the consumer within a given time frame, and is allowed to electronically transfer the award into any number of banking or investment accounts. A standard electronic currency transfer system, such as the ABA routing number system, or the ACH routing system, can be used so as not to limit the accounts into which the consumer can transfer their award. Consumers can also choose to transfer their award to multiple accounts, or accounts belonging to others, such as family or charities. Account information can also be saved for more efficient subsequent transfers, and automated transfers can also be set up by the consumer.

Methods and systems that motivate tuning to a transmission channel for a time period

Systems and methods are provided for motivating a user to watch a television channel for a predetermined period of time and enabling access to a media asset related to a program provided on the channel. A tuner is tuned to a transmission channel and a program is received concurrently with a portion of a media asset. The viewing behavior is monitored to determine whether the user tunes to a different transmission channel before a predetermined time period elapses. When the user tunes to a different transmission channel before the predetermined time period elapses, access to the media asset is prevented. When the user stays tuned to the particular transmission channel for the predetermined time period, access to the media asset is enabled. The media asset may be transmitted to a portable user device, such as a mobile phone.

Dispensing Apparatus

This invention provides a liquid dispensing apparatus such as, for example, a liquid soap dispensing apparatus. The apparatus can be provided as a self-contained unit including a reservoir provided at a spaced location from a base. Sensor means are provided to allow the selective dispensation of liquid from the reservoir upon the detection of a part of a user's anatomy in a position between the liquid reservoir and the base. A motor can be connected to an outlet from the liquid reservoir which allows a portion of the liquid to be dispensed in a controlled manner, and the power source for the motor is typically a battery or batteries and the same are located in the base. The provision of the batteries in the base, a position remote from the liquid reservoir, protects the batteries from the liquid and means that the liquid reservoir need not be provided with a sealing cap to prevent liquid from entering the power source and damaging the same.
