Method and apparatus for executing a function within a composite icon and operating an object thereby

The present invention is directed to explaining functions with a rich graphical expression even when the number of kinds of functions required for a software increases.More particularly, a plurality of function areas 201-223 are defined in a composite icon area of the present invention. An appearance image is associated to each function area and, when a mouse pointer comes across a function area, appearance images associated to that function area are displayed as appearance images of a composite icon. A function is also associated to each function area and, when a mouse is clicked on a function area, a function which is associated to that function area is executed. The set of the function area may be changed by changing the size of a composite icon, an operation to switch the group of functions, or selection of an object to be operated upon.

Device and method for monitoring the intake manifold pressure of an internal combustion engine

A method and a device for monitoring the intake manifold pressure of an internal combustion engine in which a measured signal for the intake manifold pressure is compared with a reference signal for the intake manifold pressure. For a deviation of the measured signal for the intake manifold pressure from the reference signal for the intake manifold pressure, a tolerance range is predefined for error-free operation of the intake and / or exhaust valves of at least one cylinder of the internal combustion engine. A check is made whether the measured signal for the intake manifold pressure deviates from the reference signal for the intake manifold pressure by more than a predefined tolerance range. In this case an erroneous operation of the intake and / or exhaust valves is detected; otherwise an error-free operation of the intake and / or exhaust valves is detected.

Image pickup apparatus that shoots subject viewed through viewfinder, control method therefor, and storage medium

An image pickup apparatus that reduces the likelihood that when a user operates a display screen with a fingertip while not looking through a viewfinder, the user's fingertip will be falsely detected, and makes it less likely that erroneous operation resulting from the false detection will occur. When an eye proximity sensor detects an object approaching, the light emission luminance of a display unit is reduced, or display on the display unit is turned off. When the eye proximity sensor has not detected an object approaching, first-type display objects that execute assigned functions in response to touch operations are displayed farther away from the eye proximity sensor on a display surface of the display unit than second-type display objects that do not execute assigned functions even when touched. When a touch on any of the first-type display objects is detected, a function assigned to the first-type display object is executed.

Shift register

In one embodiment of the present invention, a unit circuit of a shift register includes a bootstrap circuit configured with a transistor T1, a transistor T2 and a capacitor, a transistor T3, a transistor T4, and a reset signal generation circuit. By use of two-phase clock signals and whose high level periods do not overlap with each other, the reset signal generation circuit generates a reset signal which is at a high level in a normal state and changes to a low level when an input signal turns into the high level. During a period that the reset signal is at the high level, transistors T3 and T4 perform discharge of a node and pull-down of an output signal. Thus, it is possible to obtain a power-saving shift register that fixes an output signal at a low level in a normal state without allowing a through current to flow therein.

Imaging device, external flash detection method, program, and integrated circuit

When capturing images of a subject with an imaging device that uses a CMOS image sensor, a white band-shaped artifact appears in the imaging signal due to the influence of a rolling shutter operation performed when an external flash has been emitted. Manipulating or removing images in which such an artifact appears requires specifying the frames in which the artifact appears. A line averaging unit (11) calculates the average luminance level of each line in the imaging signal, the average luminance levels are temporarily stored by a storage unit (12), and thereafter a frame difference calculation unit (13) calculates the difference between the line average luminance levels and the line average luminance levels of the next frame. These frame difference values are compared with a reference value, and it is determined that the influence of an external flash is present if a portion of interest with high values is continuous for one frame period.
