Disclosed herein are methods of inducing satiety by providing microalgae-based foods. In some embodiments, microalgal biomass contains high levels of dietary fiber and / or digestible crude protein and / or low saturation triglyceride oil. Homogenization methods to liberate free oil and fiber are disclosed for enhancing the feeling of satiety in a human, thereby reducing caloric intake. The provision of such materials to a human have the further benefit of providing heart-healthy microalgae-based ingredients while achieving levels of satiety sufficient to reduce further caloric intake.

Automatic red eye detection and correction in digital images

A method for the automatic detection and correction of red eye in a digital image is disclosed. The method includes defining a digital image in a hue-saturation-intensity (HSI) color space, and identifying a red eye region in a digital image. Using HSI criteria, identified regions are filtered to discard areas unlikely to be the result of red eye effect, and then a plurality of algorithms are used to apply a color correction to each pixel in the identified red eye region. The color correction manipulates each pixel of the red eye region remove the red eye effect. The method is automatic, and requires no input from a user to define the red eye region, to identify the true color of the red eye region, or to apply the color correction.

Heretofore there has been a case where a monochromatic image having a sufficient power of expression cannot be printed because of a narrow selection range of saturation. According to the present invention, in a predetermined print head, there is adopted a construction wherein the gradation characteristic of a color region capable of being color-reproduced is enhanced while narrowing the color region with use of a cyan color ink of a low saturation, a magenta color ink of a low saturation, a yellow color ink of a high saturation, and a black color ink, and color reproduction is performed. The color tone of the printed monochromatic image can be adjusted minutely with respect to the color components of cyan and magenta. On the other hand, the color region capable of being color-reproduced is wide substantially in the direction of yellow. Therefore, it is possible to ensure a sufficient selection range of saturation and print a monochromatic image of a high image quality having a sufficient power of expression.

The yield variations of 15 to 60 wt % is achieved by swinging the temperature by about 10-20° C. within the operative temperature range of 70-130° C. keeping the rest of the operating conditions including solvent to feed ratio same. The LPG solvent can be recovered using supercritical mode of operation using technology known in the art and recycled.
