A system and a method of performing a frameless image-guided biopsy uses imaging, a six-dimensional robotic couch system, a laser guidance system, an optical distance indicator, and a needle control apparatus. A planning CT scan is made of the patient with stereotactic fiduciary markers to localize and produce digitally reconstructed radiographs. Two stereoscopic images are generated using an imaging device to visualize and identify a target tumor. The images are fused with the digitally reconstructed radiographs of the planning CT scan to process tumor location. The tumor location data are communicated to the movable robotic couch to position the target tumor of the patient at a known isocenter location. A biopsy needle is guided with a laser alignment mechanism towards the isocenter at the determined depth using a needle positioning apparatus and an Optical Distance Indicator, and a biopsy sample of the target tumor is obtained.

A Soft, Prioritised Early Packet Discard System is provided, which is suitable for satellite onboard switching and very-high-speed terrestrial switching applications. The system counts the number of newly arriving packets, calculates and regularly updates an average queue size, which is used in setting a packet-count threshold via a descending staircase function. When the number of newly arriving packets reaches the packet-count threshold and when the average queue size reaches or exceeds the congestion threshold; a packet is discarded and the packet-counter is reset to zero. The counting of packets is halted while the average queue size remains below the congestion threshold. The regular dropping of packets allows simplified hardware implementations. In calculating the average queue size, a progressively higher exponential queue-length averaging parameter is used for higher instantaneous queue length, to provide faster reaction to congestion situations. The averaging parameters and packet-count thresholds are implemented using lookup tables. A priority-based method is incorporated to better match the Quality of Service requirements associated with a service class.

The locking arrangement provides the suture sleeve with three modes of operation. In the first mode, the size of the lumen exceeds the diameter of the lead, such that the suture sleeve is easily movable along the lead. In the second mode, the size of at least a portion of the lumen is reduced, causing the sleeve to apply pressure to the lead so that relative movement between the sleeve and the lead is prevented. In the third mode, the pressure is temporarily released, allowing the sleeve to again be movable along the lead.

A fault tolerant controller system includes a first controller and a second controller. One of the first and second controllers designated as a primary controller for generating control signals intended to control actuation devices on a vehicle under non-fault operating conditions, and the other of the first and second controllers designated as a secondary controller generating control signals intended to control actuation devices on the vehicle. The actuation devices are responsive only to the designated primary controller. An error is detected in the primary controller and a message is transmitted from the faulty controller to the non-faulty controller identifying the error. The non-faulty controller is subsequently designated as the primary controller. In response to detecting the error, the faulty controller is reset to operate in a safe operating mode as the secondary controller.

The object is fulfilled in that the hearing aid system further comprises an online feedback manager unit for—with a predefined update frequency—identifying current feedback gain in each frequency band of the feedback path, and for subsequently adapting the maximum forward gain values in each of the frequency bands in dependence thereof in accordance with a predefined scheme. This has the advantage of providing a diminished probability for disturbing feedback improved feedback cancellation.
