Molecular transfer printing using block copolymers

Methods of creating and transferring chemical patterns and physical patterns of deposited materials or molecules using block copolymers are provided. The methods involve providing block copolymer materials blended with one or more transfer molecules or inks. The differences in chemistry of the blocks of the copolymer that result in micro-phase separation (e.g., self-assembly into nanoscale domains) also allow inks to be sequestered into specific blocks. By designing the ink molecules to react, adsorb, or otherwise interact with a second substrate, inks are transferred to the second substrate in a pattern dictated by the pattern of block copolymer domains present at the surface of the block copolymer film.

Apparatus for generating an enhanced vibrational stimulus using a rotating mass motor

ActiveUS9474683B1Low costMaximize actuator displacementDiagnosticsVibration massageElectricityTransducer
A low cost eccentric mass motor vibrotactile transducer provides a point-like vibrational stimulus to the body of a user in response to an electrical input. Preferably the eccentric mass and motor form part of the transducer actuator moving mass. The actuator moving mass is constrained into vertical motion by a spring between the actuator housing and moving mass. The actuator moving mass is in contact with a skin (body) load. The actuator housing is in simultaneous contact with the body load. The mass of the motor / contactor assembly, mass and area of the housing, and the compliance of the spring are chosen so that the electromechanical resonance of the motional masses, when loaded by the typical mechanical impedance of the skin (body), are in a frequency band where the human body is most sensitive to vibrational stimuli 150-300 Hz.

Passive boundary layer control elements

Sub-boundary-layer-scale ramp-like vortex generators that can be mounted on any surface such as the wing of an airplane, the inlet to a propulsion system, the hull of a ship, or any other surface over which a fluid moves, when the objective is to minimize drag, irreversibility losses, or other performance penalties that can occur for reasons such as boundary layer separation or other undesirable boundary layer properties. The disclosed devices acts to passively induce streamwise vortices in the boundary layer, thereby transferring high-momentum fluid toward the surface in such a way as to alter the shape of the velocity profile within the boundary layer and thereby avoid or delay separation or alter other properties of the boundary layer.

Micro stage with 6 degrees of freedom

A micro stage with 6 degrees of freedom used in super-precise processing and sensing equipment filed is disclosed. The micro stage has three sets of electromagnetic driving units arranged in a horizontal plane for driving the micro stage to obtain movements within the horizontal plane with 3 degrees of freedom in X, Y and θz directions and three electromagnetic driving units arranged in a vertical direction for driving the micro stage to obtain additional movements with 3 degrees of freedom in Z, θx and θy directions. Direct driving by electromagnetic force is used in the invention, resulting in advantages over stacked structures of having a simple structure, a compact profile, a low driven weight center, low stator inertia, etc. Thus, there is no mechanical friction and damping, and high displacement resolution can be provided. The positioning error of a wafer table of a lithographic machine can be compensated, and the leveling and focusing of the lithographic machine can be achieved. The invention is also applicable in super-precise processing and sensing fields for achieving 6 degree-of-freedom motions. The micro stage, which operates on the basis of Lorentz Law, provides a linear relation between the output pushing force and the input electrical current, and thus the movement control technique for it can be well established.
