Portable remote patient telemonitoring system

A system and method for monitoring vital signs and capturing data from a patient remotely using radiotelemetry techniques. The system is characterized by a cordless, disposable sensor band with sensors form measuring full waveform ECG, full waveform respiration, skin temperature, and motion, and transmission circuitry for the detection and transmission of vital signs data of the patient. A small signal transfer unit that can either be worn by the patient, e.g., on his or her belt, or positioned nearby receives data from the sensor band, which it then forwards by e.g., radio transmission to a base station that can be located up to 60 meters away. The base station receives data transmissions from the signal transfer unit and is designed to connect to conventional phone lines for transferring the collected data to a remote monitoring station. The base station may also capture additional clinical data, such as blood pressure data, and to perform data checks. Patient safety is enhanced by the ability of the base station to compare clinical data, e.g., ECG, against given profiles and to mark events when appropriate or when the base station is programmed to do so. Such events are indicated to the physician and could be indicated to the patient by reverse transmission to the signal transfer unit. A remote monitoring station allows the presentation and review of data (including events) forwarded by the sensor band. ECG analysis software and a user-friendly graphical user interface are provided to remotely analyze the transmitted data and to permit system maintenance and upkeep. The system of the invention has useful application to the collection of patient clinical data during drug trials and medical testing for regulatory approvals as well as management of patients with chronic diseases.

Portable remote patient telemonitoring system using a memory card or smart card

A system and method for monitoring health parameters and capturing data from a subject. The system is characterized by a cordless, disposable sensor band with sensors for measuring full waveform ECG, full waveform respiration, skin temperature, and motion, and a connector which accepts a memory card or a smart card for storage of the measured data. After a predetermined period of time, such as when the sensor band is removed, the memory card or smart card is removed and inserted into a monitoring device which reads the stored health parameter data of the subject. The monitoring device includes a base station that includes a memory / smart card reader and is connected to conventional phone lines for transferring the collected data to a remote monitoring station. The base station may also capture additional clinical data, such as blood pressure data, and to perform data checks. Subject safety is enhanced by the ability of the base station to compare clinical data, e.g. ECG, against given profiles and to mark events when appropriate or when the base station is programmed to do so. The remote monitoring station allows the presentation and review of data (including events) forwarded by the sensor band. ECG analysis software and a user-friendly graphical user interface are provided to remotely analyze the transmitted data and to permit system maintenance and upkeep. In alternative embodiments, a smart card includes the sensor band's electronics and / or signal transmission circuitry in conjunction with a portable data logger so that the electronics may be reused from one disposable sensor band to the next without limiting the patient's range of movement. The system of the invention has useful application to the collection of subject clinical data during drug trials and medical testing for regulatory approvals as well as management of subjects with chronic diseases.

Apparatus and method for tracking and managing physical assets

A computer based system automatically gathers, analyzes, and delivers information relating to the procurement and utilization of a plurality of such assets, such as a fleet of industrial equipment, so as to maximize productivity and to reduce operating costs and administrative burdens. Each of the assets is preferably provided with a data acquisition device for sensing and storing one or more operating characteristics associated therewith. That information can be transmitted through space to a receiver connected to a local controller for storing such information and for transmitting such information over the internet to a remote analysis system. The remote analysis system automatically updates individual records associated with each of the assets with the information received from the internet. In response to such information, the remote analysis system automatically analyzes the newly provided information and generates reports regarding scheduled maintenance, warranty coverage, and other management information. These reports can be transmitted back over the internet to an administrative controller for review by one or more persons responsible for managerial review. Additionally or alternatively, the remote analysis system can automatically post such reports on a website and, thus, be made available to one or more of such persons upon request.

Remote support system for programming active implantable medical devices such as cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiovertors or multisite devices

A remote support system for programming active implantable medical devices such as cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, cardioverters or multisite devices. A station is equipped with a programmer that is able to read, by telemetry, information stored in an implantable device, and transmit over a telephone line the information thus read, namely patient data and/or internal parameters for operating the programmer or programming parameters of the implant. A remote analysis station is configured to receive the information sent on the telephone line and display and/or analyze the transmitted information. The programmer includes an input to collect a voice signal and a multiplexor so that the data and/or parameters and the voice signal collected, are simultaneously delivered at the multiplexor output in real-time as a multiplexed signal that, in turn, is applied to a tele-transmission circuit (e.g., a modem). The analysis station includes a circuit to restore the audio and a demultiplexor to both receive the signal on the telephone line and deliver to the separate output channels the data and/or parameters and the aforementioned voice signal. The data and/or parameters delivered by the multiplexor are applied to a display and/or an analysis circuit to analyze the patient data, and the voice signal is applied to a restitution circuit to provide an audio signal, enabling bidirectional real-time voice communications over the same transmission line carrying the patient data.

Tunnel pipeline monitoring and early warning system

The invention discloses a tunnel pipeline safety monitoring and early warning system. The monitoring system is composed of a pipeline deformation measurement unit, a temperature measurement unit, a support displacement and reaction force measurement unit, a water level detection unit, a field data acquiring and processing unit, a field acousto-optic alarm, a remote analysis and control terminal, and an optical cable. Monitoring signals of the measurement units are acquired and processed by a multi-channel demodulation module and a field analysis and processing module, and transmitted to the remote analysis and control terminal through a wireless transmission module by a GPRS protocol. A piece of control system software carries out statistical recording and early warning analysis of the monitoring signals, and performs safety threshold setting, monitoring system remote control, and field acousto-optic alarming. Due to the modular and multi-channel design of the monitoring system, different monitoring programs and multiple groups of monitoring points can be configured according to the monitoring need, the requirement of monitoring and early warning of mountain, river and other tunnel-through pipelines can be met, and automatic remote intelligent tunnel pipeline monitoring and management is realized.
