Multi-channel support for virtual private networks in a packet to ATM cell cable system

A two-way cable network offering high-speed broadband communications delivered via virtual private networks over a multi-channel shared media system. Bi-directional transmission of packet to ATM cell based communications is established between a head end communication controller and a number of subscriber terminal units, whereby individual cells are prioritized and routed according to a virtual connection. Virtual connections are organized to support multiple virtual private networks in a shared media CATV system. The virtual private network to which a particular STU belongs is user selectable and has the flexibility of handling multi up/downstream channels with different MAC domains. The present invention can also handle non-ATM MAC domains via the same common ATM switch. To overcome the limited number of addresses inherent to common ATM switches, a mapping/remapping function is implemented in the port cards. Furthermore, downstream as well as upstream traffic are filtered at each STU. In one embodiment, information pertaining to downstream traffic is used to implement predictive scheduling in order to improve the timing associated with the request/grant cycle. In another embodiment, a user has the ability to select a quality of service that best suits the needs of the current application. In a further embodiment, the scheduling function is associated with each of the receivers in order to provide improved scalability.

A system, computer program product and method for dispatching work items in a virtual machine operating system. The virtual machine operating system defines first and second virtual machines. First and second work queues are created in a memory. The first virtual machine assigns a first work item to the first work queue and a second work item to the second work queue. The first virtual machine schedules work items from the first work queue for execution by the first virtual machine. The first and second work items originate from the first virtual machine. The first and second work queues are directly accessible by the first virtual machine. The second virtual machine assigns a third work item to the first work queue and a fourth work item to the second work queue. The second virtual machine schedules work items from the second work queue for execution by the second virtual machine. The third and fourth work items originate from the second virtual machine. The first and second work queues are directly accessible by the second virtual machine. The first virtual machine is not able to schedule work items from the second work queue, and the second virtual machine is not able to schedule work items from the first work queue. A shared work queue in shared memory is also disclosed.

Steelmaking-continuous casting production operation plan and real-time dispatching optimization method and system based on mixed intelligent optimization algorithm

The invention provides a steelmaking-continuous casting production operation plan and a real-time dispatching optimization method and a system based on a mixed intelligent optimization algorithm. The method comprises the following steps: establishing a production operation plan and an original dispatching proposal by the mixed intelligent optimization algorithm according to a production batch plan; detecting the perturbation in the production process through the established real-time data and a human-computer interaction interface; adopting the mixed intelligent optimization algorithm for remaking the plan on operating plans and unoperated plans; classifying the main perturbation in the production process; and establishing processing mechanisms corresponding to each kind of perturbation. The invention provides the re-planning and re-dispatching functions under the condition of changed production environment, and brings convenience for dispatching personnel to regulate the dispatching proposals according to personnel experience. The method considers the possible conflicts between equipment and the furnace sequence during the generation of the production operation plan and the dispatching proposal, so the calculation results are feasible. Because of the real-time dispatching function, the model method has strong system self organization performance, good adaptability and good universality.

The invention relates to a dynamic positioning and scheduling method and system, which integrate satellite positioning, a digital map and a GIS (Geographic Information System) into a whole and are suitable for real time positioning and scheduling of fleets. The dynamic positioning and scheduling method comprises the following steps of: presetting a parameter required by dynamic positioning and scheduling; carrying out road matching algorithm processing according to GPS (Global Positioning System) positioning information and the GIS; setting each fleet as one category; calculating the positionwhere the fleet arrives every X seconds within 0-T min; judging whether the fleet deviates a preassigned path; judging whether other fleets are in a safety car distance value L0; if not, sending alarming information; judging whether the traveling average speed of the fleet is less than a set car speed value V0, if so, transferring to a standby path; judging whether the fleet arrives a destination, if so, clearing the fleet in the categories; repeating the steps until category operations of all fleets are completed. Therefore, by utilizing the dynamic positioning and scheduling method and system, the real time positioning and monitoring of a plurality of fleets can be realized, alarming can be given when conflict conditions occur, and intelligent command scheduling functions can be realized.

Combining scalability across multiple resources in a transaction processing system having global serializability

There is disclosed a method and system for processing transactions requested by an application in a distributed computer system. The computer system includes at least one resource comprising a plurality of storage areas each with an associated resource manager, or a plurality of resources each comprising at least one storage area with an associated resource manager, the storage areas holding the same tables as each other. There is also provided a transaction manager that is linked, by way of either a network or a local application programming interface (API), to each of the resource managers, the transaction manager being configured to coordinate transaction prepare and commit cycles. The application requests operations on the resource by way of an interface; and a dispatch function directs transactions from the application to the appropriate storage areas on the basis of the content of the tables in the resource managers, in such a way that any given transaction is routed only to the storage areas containing entries upon which the transaction operates, allowing another transaction operating on different entries to be routed concurrently in parallel to other storage areas. A safe timestamp manager is provided to allocate new timestamps for committing transactions when such transactions access more than one resource storage area at the same time.
