58 results about "Spotting scope" patented technology

A spotting scope is a small portable high-power telescope with added optics to present an erect image, optimized for the observation of terrestrial objects. They are used for various outdoor activities such as birdwatching and other naturalist activities, for hunting and target shooting to verify a marksman's shot placements, for tactical ranging and surveillance, and for any other application that requires more magnification than a pair of binoculars, typically on the order of 20× to 60×.

System and method for antenna alignment

According to various embodiments, a parabolic antenna may include a radome with an optically transparent window. The parabolic antenna may include a feedhorn socket configured to receive a feedhorn assembly. The feedhorn socket may also be configured to receive a spotting scope. According to various embodiments, the spotting scope may be mounted in place of the feedhorn assembly and used to optically align the parabolic antenna with respect to a distant target. The optically transparent window positioned in the radome may allow a user to see through the radome. Once aligned, the spotting scope may be removed from the feedhorn socket. A feedhorn assembly may then be secured in the feedhorn socket and a radio unit coupled thereto for radio frequency transmission.

Bracket for attachment of optical devices and other support apparatuses to support objects

An improved device for attachment of support apparatuses such as a tripod, support accessory, adjustable ball and socket support arms, and the like, to supplemental support objects such as a tree or limb, post or rail or other environmental objects, is herein provided. Convenient portable support of cameras, spotting scopes, optical devices and other devices is enhanced by enabling placement at usable heights, locations, and positions beyond the capabilities of the support apparatus alone. Shown as generally rectangular in shape, the support attachment device has a support apparatus side and supplemental support side, and an upper and lower end. FIG. 1 shows the support apparatus side 10 of the support attachment device. A support receiving groove 12 begins at the upper end 14 and ends at the lower end 16. Support receiving groove 12 divides a first support apparatus face 18 and second support apparatus face 20. A first rope clenching cleat 22 is contained upon first support apparatus face 18 and a second rope clenching cleat 24 is contained upon second support apparatus face 20. First rope clenching cleat 22 and second rope clenching cleat 24 are passive means for tightly clenching a flexible binding means such as common rope or the like. A rope placed within a rope clenching cleat is tightly bound without the need for a buckle requiring manual manipulation. No additional manually operated clamp or buckle is needed. By using common rope as a flexible means or secure attachment, the user is not limited by finite lengths of normal straps or finite sizes of normal clamps, but instead enabled to easily add to length as needed.

Correct image zoomable reflecting telescope with near stationary eyepiece

A correct image reflecting telescope with zoom capability comprised of a flat mirror, a parabolic primary mirror, and an image correcting system. The flat mirror reflects the incoming light from the telescope aperture into the parabolic primary mirror. The reflected light from the primary mirror passes back through a small centrally located opening in the flat aperture mirror and into an image correcting lens system. The image correcting system repositions the focal point of the primary mirror from a point in front of the flat aperture mirror to a point behind this mirror for observation with and eyepiece. The image correcting system makes the telescope useful in terrestrial as well as celestial applications and it can be moved with respect to the primary mirror such that a zoom feature results. This intrinsic zoom of the telescope allows an observer to use a single eyepiece in place of many, eliminates the need for an additional finder scope, and also makes the telescope useful in spotting scope applications. The eyepiece can remain at a stationary level for all observable directions.
