A method for controlling a VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) satellite communication L-band down converter, comprising the following steps of: step 1, system initialization; step 2, entering the waiting state; and if an input command is detected in the waiting state, starting step 3; step 3, command determination, and if the determination is true, starting step 4, otherwise, returning to the step 2; step 4, command processing; and step 5, control event processing, and returning to the step 2 if the operation on the down converter is finished. The control event processing in the step 5 comprises processing of the following events: preselector setting, medium-frequency bandwidth setting, AGC / MGC (Automatic Gain Control / Manual Gain Control) control, first local oscillator frequency control and second local oscillator frequency control. With the method for controlling the VSAT satellite communication L-band down converter provided by the invention, smart control is realized for receiving of the input instruction, automatic control of related modules of the down converter, and corresponding parameter adjustment; real-time operation is realized for the input instructions; the parameter adjustment time is shortened; and the operation reliability and keenness of the down converter are enhanced.
