A technique for serially coupling devices in a daisy chain cascading arrangement. Devices are coupled in a daisy chain cascade arrangement such that outputs of a first device are coupled to inputs of a second device later in the daisy chain to accommodate the transfer of information, such as data, address and command information, and control signals to the second device from the first device. The devices coupled in the daisy chain comprise a serial input (SI) and a serial output (SO). Information is input to a device via the SI. The information is output from the device via the SO. The SO of an earlier device in the daisy chain cascade is coupled to the SI of a device later in the daisy chain cascade. Information input to the earlier device via the device's SI is passed through the device and output from the device via the device's SO. The information is then transferred to the later device's SI via the connection from the earlier device's SO and the later device's SI.

In accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention, users of the communications system can each possess an independent pseudo-random key generator to securely communicate with other users also holding independent pseudo-random key generator that share the same initialization configuration data, no matter where the other users are located or whether the users are connected via wire or wireless communication network. The present invention facilitates secure communication without the need to transport decryption keys in advanced, thereby reducing the risk of the secure communication becoming compromised via interception of decryption keys.

If the user and his / her token are “present,” then access is allowed. If the user and his / her token are not “present” (i.e., within a predetermined radius), then access is disallowed and all in-memory data is flushed to the disk. The user wears the small authentication token that communicates with the laptop over a short-range, wireless link. Whenever the laptop needs decryption authority, it acquires it from the token; authority is retained only as long as necessary.

The method includes generating an optical Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal modulated in accordance with a predetermined Pulse Width Modulation scheme. The method also includes applying the PWM optical signal to a measurement location in a blood perfused body tissue of the human and receiving light originated back from the measurement location. A photo current signal of a time response of the blood perfused body tissue to the PWM optical signal is indicative of the vital signs. The method includes generating a voltage signal from the photo current signal and processing the voltage signal for determining the vital signs.

The invention which relates to an optical instrument and detection imaging technique discloses a large field depth iris image acquisition system and a method based on a plurality of fixed-focus cameras. The method comprises the following steps: respectively imaging the iris by means of the fixed-focus cameras having different imaging object distance ranges and producing a multi-path fixed-focus image results; choosing one or a plurality of multi-path fixed-focus image results through distance measurement or image quality evaluation method; carrying out image processing and identification of chosen qualified iris image data. The invention effectively integrates the imaging ranges of different fixed-focus cameras in the mode of self-adapting switchover, thereby taking advantages of the cameras and at same time removing disadvantages of the cameras, enlarging the integral imaging range of the acquisition system, and improving the feasibility of an iris recognition system. Compared with the prior iris imaging method adopting a zoom camera, the invention has the advantages of low cost, quick and noiseless focusing.

The transmission of a password is push technology and may be enhanced by a gating feature. Automatic password retrieval from the vault is convenient to the user, particularly if the device automatically generates random passwords.
