Method and system for minimizing the connection set up time in high speed packet switching networks

The present invention is directed to a high speed packet switching network and, in particular to a method and system for minimizing the time to establish a connection between an origin and a destination node. Due to high dynamicity of the traffic on transmission links, it is important to select a routing path according to a fully up-to-date information on all network resources. The simpler approach is to calculate a new path for each new connection request. This solution may be very time consuming because there are as many path selection operations as connection set up operations. On another hand, the calculation of paths based on an exhaustive exploration of the network topology, is a complex operation which may also take an inordinate amount of resources in large networks. Many of connections originated from a network node flow to the same destination network node. It is therefore possible to take a serious benefit in reusing the same already calculated paths for several connections towards the same node. The path calculated at the time the connection is requested is recorded in a Routing Database and updated each time a modification occurs in the network. Furthermore, alternate paths for supporting non-disruptive path switch on failure or preemption, and new paths towards potential destination nodes can be calculated and stored when the connection set up process is idle. These last operations are executed in background with a low processing priority and in absence of connection request.

Physical resynthesis of a logic design

A multiple-pass synthesis technique improves the performance of a design. In a specific embodiment, synthesis is performed in two or more passes. In a first pass, a first synthesis is performed, and in a second or subsequent pass, a second synthesis or resynthesis is performed. During the first synthesis, the logic will be mapped to for example, the logic structures (e.g., logic elements, LUTs, synthesis gates) of the target technology such as a programmable logic device. Alternatively a netlist may be provided from a third party. Before the second synthesis, a fast or abbreviated fit may be performed of the netlist to a specific device (e.g., specific programmable logic device product). Before the second synthesis, the netlist obtained from the first synthesis (or provided by a third party) is unmapped and then the second synthesis is performed. Since a partial fit is performed, the second synthesis has more visibility and optimize the logic better than by using a single synthesis pass. After the second synthesis pass, a more detailed fit is performed.

Each remote station is assigned one primary code channel for the duration of the communication with a cell. Secondary code channels of various types and transmission capabilities can be assigned by a channel scheduler for scheduled transmission of data traffic at high rates. Secondary code channels are assigned in accordance with a set of system goals, a list of parameters, and collected information on the status of the communication network. Secondary code channels can be grouped into sets of secondary code channels. Data is partitioned in data frames and transmitted over the primary and secondary code channels which have been assigned to the scheduled user.

Method of operation of an intelligent transpartent gateway during an FTP session

A transparent gateway having increased throughput during a file transfer protocol (ftp) session is provided. This increase is enabled through generalized network address translator (gNAT) at the kernel level that is under user-mode proxy control through an application programming interface (API). Initially, the proxy commands the API to generate a dynamic port-redirect in the gNAT for all connection requests for a port twenty-one to itself at the local port to which it is bound. The proxy may then establish a session on the client's behalf with the ftp server, establish a session on the client's behalf with a different ftp server, etc. The proxy then requests that the API command an address translation in the gNAT to open an ftp data session so that data from the ftp server need not pass up to the user-mode, but may be dynamically redirected within the kernel-mode.

Method and system for accurate clock synchronization for communication networks

A high accuracy clock synchronization mechanism between a sender and a receiver in a communication network achieves time synchronization using broadcast beacons, directly at the PHY / MAC layer of the sender and the receiver, to minimize synchronization delay jitter. This provides a more efficient synchronization method than either NTP or SNTP, because multiple handshaking information exchange is avoided. Further, using beacons avoids the overhead of introducing additional synchronization packets in higher layer synchronization.

Handover system and method for minimizing service delay due to pingpong effect in a broadband wireless access communication system

In a BWA communication system, an MSS changes its connection from the serving BS to the target BS, and sends the target BS a report indicating that the MSS will change its connection upon detecting occurrence of a pingpong effect in a process of performing a network re-entry operation with the target BS. The target BS sends the serving BS a notification indicating that the MSS will change its connection. Upon receiving from the MSS a report indicating that it will change its connection to the serving BS, the serving BS allocates a contention-free-based ranging resource to the MSS so that the MSS connects a communication service with the serving BS using the contention-free-based ranging resource, minimizing a service delay.
