Externally activated neuro-implant which directly transmits therapeutic signals

An externally powered and controlled neuro-implant system for transmission of stimulating therapeutic signals to an implantable electrode. The system basically consists of two coils, one external active coil and one internal passive coil each housed in a ferrite pot core which enhances inductive coupling and minimizes the coils in size, thus facilitating the construction of a passive coils array to enable the usage of multi-contact electrodes for swithching of the electrical stimulation between a number of sites along the target neurons. The implanted part of the system, comprising only a coil housed in a ferrite pot core, is fully passive. The passive coil, that is implanted under the skin, is connected with the electrode placed in neighbouring of the target neural tissue via implanted thin medical grade wires. The active coil is placed on the skin overlying the passive coil. Therapeutic signals produced by the transmitter outside the body are transmitted through the coils by inductive coupling across the skin of the patient.

Dynamic asymmetric partitioning of program code memory in network connected devices

A novel asymmetric memory partitioning mechanism for providing resolving and reducing memory limitations when an increase in software image size is required. Two partitions are created in non-volatile memory, one smaller than the other. The smaller partition stores a degenerated version of the full-functionality software comprising only essential program code for booting the device and repeating the download and installation procedures until the full-functionality software image is successfully installed in non-volatile memory. The larger portion stores a full-functionality version of the software comprising both essential and non-essential program code. The mechanism also provides the capability of converting devices already deployed in the field. The legacy symmetrical partitioning of the memory in these devices is removed and replaced with asymmetrical partitioning, wherein the smaller partition stores the degenerated software image and the larger partition stores the full-functionality software image.

Cluster Configuration Through Host Ranking

Computer implemented methods, system and apparatus for configuring a cluster using a plurality of hosts include identifying a plurality of features for forming the cluster. The plurality of features define requirements needed in a host for forming the cluster. A plurality of hosts are identified to be part of the cluster. A compatibility analysis is executed for each of the identified hosts wherein a ranking is provided for each of the identified hosts. A plurality of suggested adjustments to particular hosts are presented to enable the particular hosts to be compatible with the features requirements. A configuration template is constructed for the hosts in the cluster that are compatible with the requirements. The hosts are configured for the cluster using the configuration settings in the configuration template. The configured hosts enable the features in the cluster.

System, method, and/or computer program product for a file system interface

A system, method and / or computer program product for a file system interface (FSIP) that scans a file system of the computer system to obtain file system information, automatically collects and organizes the file system information into an internal cache of the file system information organized in a predetermined manner to enable instantaneous response of query(s) that provides a predetermined view of the file system, automatically monitors the file system for changes, and automatically maintains the internal cache. The FSIP maintains file system information internal data structure consistency, instructs the computer system to construct visual report(s) of the file system without rescanning the system, and instructs the computer system to scan a predefined portion of the file system, whereby multiple portions of the file system can be simultaneously scanned. The FSIP stores the file system information in a single data store, and executes a depth first traversal of the file system.

Laser radar projection with object feature detection and ranging

A 3D pulsed laser projection system scans an object to produce a dense 3D point cloud and projects a laser light beam onto an object as a glowing template. A high-sensitivity optical feedback system receives and detects a feedback beam of the output beam light diffusely reflected from the object. The feedback light and projected beam share the same beam path between steering mirrors and the object. A light suppression component controls stray scattered light, including ambient light, from being detected. A time-of-flight measurement subsystem provides a distance-to-object measurement for projected pulses. An acousto-optical modulator, variable gain detected signal amplification and variable photo-detector power together produce a dynamic range for detected reflected feedback signals of at least 100,000, and up to 500,000. Optical fiber cables spatially filter scattered light and isolate the photo-detectors thermally. The laser is preferably pulsed at least 50 kHz, with sampling of the projected and feedback reflected optical pulse signals at a sampling rate of up to 10 gigasamples per second.

WLAN And WWAN Connection Migration Methods And Apparatus

Intra-enterprise wireless handset (WH) calls between WHs operating in a wireless local area network (WLAN) are established directly between the WHs via a call connection that is maintained within the LAN without being routed through the cellular network (CN). This eliminates the cost of placing and maintaining calls through the CN for intra-enterprise calls, and also enables use of capabilities that are available in the enterprise telecomm equipment. Upon detection of a trigger condition, if and when it is more likely that a complete vertical handover (VHO) may be needed, the call connection between the WHs in the LAN is replaced by one that is routed through the CN. Thereafter, a VHO may occur (if at all) upon detection of a radio handover condition.

A reader and illuminator(s), preferably IR and / or US, are communicatively coupled with the tag and adapted to provide command and control signals to the tag and receive data / information from it. The user's bio-metric data is read by the sensor, compared to the data base and verification communicated to an access or point of sale device. The tag looks for illuminators and reports to the reader the IDs of those it sees. The detection history permits tracking and locating tagged objects or persons, such as theme park guests. If no illuminator signal is seen, the tag sends a special signal.
