Power management of a system for measuring the acceleration of a body part

The present invention provides an apparatus and method for determining the magnitude of linear and rotational acceleration of an impact to a body part. The apparatus can be used with protective sports equipment, such as a sports helmet, wherein the apparatus includes a battery, a number of accelerometers positioned proximate to the outer surface of the head, and an electronic device with a processor and a transmitter to transmit data received from the accelerometers. To maximize the battery life and minimize power consumption by the electronic device, the apparatus includes a power management system with a sensor assembly. The sensor assembly sends a first signal to the electronic device to initiate operation when the sensor assembly detects the presence of an object within the helmet, and a second signal to the electronic device to cease operation when the sensor assembly detects the absence of the object. The sensor assembly may be a proximity sensor, more specifically an inductive, capacitive, or ultrasonic sensor.

A plastic window assembly is adapted to be mounted in an opening defined by a structure. The plastic window assembly is oval-shaped with a decorative plastic window muntin. A plastic frame supports parallel window panes. The window muntin is disposed between the parallel window panes. Flat surfaces of the window muntin have a first edge and a second edge and include a ridge disposed along each of the edges. Marring of the window panes is prevented because the ridge provides for line contact between the window muntin and the window panes. The window muntin may also be integrally molded to a plastic pane disposed between the parallel panes of glass. The plastic pane includes a surface texture that simulates frosted glass. The plastic window assembly includes a plurality of liner panels that extend through the opening from an interior of the structure. The window assembly includes a flange having aperture throughwhich fasteners are inserted to secure the window assembly to the structure. An exterior trim ring attaches to the outside of the window assembly and over siding on the structure. An interior trim ring attaches to a flange in the liner panel to give a finished appearance. All exposed surfaces include a surface texture that simulates wood grain.

Management of working status with large-scaled display

The object of the present invention is to ensure information sharing in a factory and enhance the production efficiency. The management system of the present invention utilizes a liquid crystal projector PRJ to project an image of management information on a large-scaled display in the factory. A screen SCR is located at a specific position that allows each worker to simultaneously recognize the display and the object of the display (for example, in the case of a storehouse, the storage status of products). The contents of the display are varied according to the location of the display: for example, (1) instructions and actual conditions of storage of products in the storehouse; and (2) requirement of parts from assembly lines to a parts warehouse and status of delivery of parts from the parts warehouse. In a staff room of managers, information with regard to a first process, which is upstream most in the work flow in the factory (status of carrying-in work of parts and materials from outside) and information with regard to a last process, which is downstream most in the work flow (status of shipment) are displayed simultaneously. Such display enables workers in various sections and managers to accurately grasp the working status in the factory in real time, thus attaining the smooth operations and enhancing the production efficiency.

Cookstove fire extinguishing system

An improved fire protection system that is of fail safe design for kitchen stoves and other applications utilizing gas for generating heat and in which a fire condition such as a skillet of grease becomes ignited. Said system is activated thermally to release a quantity of fire suppressant material onto the top of the stove quenching the fire while simultaneously cutting off the cooking gas. The system utilizes a reservoir containing the fire suppressant under pressure with a hose or pipe connected to one or more thermally activated spray heads. A second hose or pipe is connected to a pneumatically operated gas cut off valve. The activation of the thermally activated spray head or heads exhausts the pneumatic pressure of the reservoir thereby causing the gas cut off valve to close against the cooking gas.

Noise attenuator and vehicle air intake duct provided therewith

A noise attenuator which can reduce time and cost for installation thereof as compared with the conventional configuration and a vehicle air intake duct provided with the noise attenuator are provided. The noise attenuator includes a pair of circular through holes formed through a duct wall, a pair of wave transmitting / receiving membrane which are stretched so as to close the circular through holes, and a seesaw member which connects between central portions of the paired transmitting / receiving membranes. Accordingly, when one of the membranes receives a sound wave of noise thereby to be vibrated at a predetermined frequency, the other membrane follows it and is also vibrated while shifted by a half cycle. As a result, a cancellation wave with a phase opposite to the sound wave received by the one membrane is transmitted from the other membrane, whereupon the noise can be attenuated.

The herein described system is used for mechanically extending and retracting a semi trailer's / chassis landing gear to support, raise or lower the trailer or chassis. Such system utilizes the existing apparatus minus the manual “crank” currently attached to the shaft which, in turn, is attached to the gear reduction box assembly. The manual crank is replaced with an “adapter” on the outboard shaft. The adaptor is lined with an elastic polymeric solid that flows like liquid under load. This adapter is then attached as needed to a pneumatic, hydraulic, or electrically powered device to turn the shaft thereby mechanically moving the landing / leveling legs into the desired position. The pneumatic device is powered by a connection inherent to the system attached to the semi-trailer or tractor's air brake line. The hydraulic device may be powered by an external hydraulic system. The electrical device may be DC battery powered or attached to an inverter in / or on the tractor.
