The invention relates to a hierarchical indication system and method for crossroad vehicle traffic. The system comprises a primary indication system and a secondary indication system which are arranged along a crossroad entrance lane, wherein the primary indication system is arranged between the secondary indication system and a crossroad, the primary indication system comprises a primary stop line, multiple strands of primary running lanes, a traffic flow identification device and variable traffic mark lines, the primary stop line is arranged at the foremost end of a travelling direction, thetraffic flow identification device is arranged at a front end of the primary stop line, each variable traffic mark line is arranged on each strand of primary running lane, the secondary indication system comprises a secondary stop line, multiple strands of secondary running lanes, a traffic flow identification device and variable traffic mark lines, the secondary stop line is arranged at the foremost end of the travelling direction, the multiple strands of secondary running lines are continued with the primary running lanes, the traffic flow identification device is arranged at a front end ofthe secondary stop line, and each variable traffic mark line is arranged on each strand of secondary running lane. With the system provided by the technical scheme, the vehicle passing efficiency ofa road at the crossroad can be improved, and the congestion condition is reduced.
