Orogastric catheter for longitudinal gastrectomy

ActiveUS20130165774A1Simple and economical to manufactureSimple and economical to and useStentsCatheterPylorusGastrectomy
The invention relates to an orogastric catheter for a longitudinal gastrectomy. The object of the invention is to make available an orogastric catheter that represents an advantageous alternative to the poorly suited catheters used today and that facilitates the work of the surgeon. This novel orogastric catheter is characterized in that this distal part carries a balloon (25) which, in the inflated state, has a shape substantially matching that of the pyloric antrum (4), in such a way as to be able to be lodged in this pyloric antrum (4), the end of the inflated balloon (25) then being in abutment against the pylorus (5), and the distal end of the body of the catheter (20) for its part being in abutment against the pyloric antrum (4), while the part of the body (21) of the catheter (20) arranged above the inflated balloon (25) is wedged against the wall of the lesser curvature (6) of the stomach (1), thus making it possible to determine the position of the start of the closure resection line in the area of the pyloric antrum (4), to define the closure resection line, and to calibrate the pyloric antrum (4) and the gastric sleeve to be preserved.

Vehicle automatic emergency response system

An automatic emergency response system is operable to notify an emergency center of a defined event, such as a vehicle accident. The system facilitates location of the event, by using position determining means, such as GSP, to establish its at least approximate location. A control circuit includes code generating means to generate a coded signal incorporating the position location information. An alarm signal transmitter is operable on occurrence of the defined event to transmit an alarm signal incorporating the coded signal to a receiving station, which may be a satellite, which relays the message to the emergency center, including the positional information relating to the location of the transmitter. A relative low power homing signal transmitter simultaneously transmits a homing signal either continuously or at periodic intervals.

Disposable electrosurgical handpiece

Incorporating into an electrosurgical handpiece a device configured to disable the handpiece when a built-in usage time period expires. Preferably, the device comprises a timer in the form of an activating battery with a known discharge rate such that the battery voltage gradually reduces in value with use. The battery in turn is coupled to a circuit which monitors the battery voltage and operates a switch which decouples the handpiece electrode from the electrosurgical current source when the battery voltage falls below a preset value. This effectively disables the handpiece preventing reuse.

Wall mounted folding grab bar

A wall supported grab bar structure provides two similar spacedly opposed L-shaped brackets interconnected by a fixed bar extending therebetween and carrying a U-shaped foldable bar to pivot relative thereto. Each bracket carries screw fasteners for mounting the brackets on structural elements of a supporting wall. The foldable bar pivots from a relaxed position parallel to a wall supporting a use to the brackets position perpendicular to the supporting wall. Spring leaf fasteners carried in the outer end portion of each leg of the foldable bar each provide a release pin and a spacedly distant fastener pin to releaseably interfit in a hole defined in the adjacent L-shaped bracket to releasably maintain the foldable bar in an extended operative position. Each fastener pin is releaseable responsive to motion of the spacedly distant release pins and both release pins must be simultaneously operated to release the foldable bar from a use portion.

Mono control lift and tilt mechanism for horizontal blinds

The invention includes apparatus for controlling the lift and tilt of a horizontal window blind. A tilting drum, conic cord-gathering shaft, torsion spring and support cradle may be combined to provide lift and tilt adjustment with a single rotational control. An angular surface near one end of the cord-gathering shaft deflects winding coils of a lifting cord down the length of the cone. The torsion spring and spring stops in the device allow tilt adjustment to take place in conjunction with the rotation of the cord-gathering shaft. The preferred embodiment includes a cord cover to guide the coils as the diameter of the cord-gathering shaft decreases.

Dumbbell

A dumbbell with a selectable number of weight disks includes a handle with pins projectable in opposing directions, a base assembly for accommodating two sets of weight disks standing upright, and having through-going openings. Neighbouring weight disks have mutually cooperating connecting arrangements which axially interconnect the weight disks but which permit radial separation. The projection lengths of the pins are stepwise selectable in order thereby to permit selection of the number of weight disks carried on the handle. The handle has, in opposing ends, connecting arrangements for interconnecting with the connecting arrangements of the innermost weight disks in the base assembly. Further, the space between the connecting arrangements of the handle is free through 360° about the handle throughout its entire length, the openings of the weight disks being centrally located.
