Machine learning of document templates for data extraction

The present system can perform machine learning of prototypical descriptions of data elements for extraction from machine-readable documents. Document templates are created from sets of training documents that can be used to extract data from form documents, such as: fill-in forms used for taxes; flex-form documents having many variants, such as bills of lading or insurance notifications; and some context-form documents having a description or graphic indicator in proximity to a data element. In response to training documents, the system performs an inductive reasoning process to generalize a document template so that the location of data elements can be predicted for the training examples. The automatically generated document template can then be used to extract data elements from a wide variety of form documents.

Architecture for dynamically reconfigurable system-on-chip arrangements, related methods and computer program product

A system-on-chip arrangement having, in possible combination with a processor, a plurality of reconfigurable gate array devices, and a configurable Network-on-Chip connecting the gate array devices to render the arrangement scalable. The arrangement lends itself to be operated by mapping in one device of the gate array a set of processing modules, and configuring another device of the plurality of gate array devices as a microcontroller having stored therein software code portions for controlling inter-operation of the processing modules stored in the one device of the plurality. The arrangement is thus adapted, e.g., to handle different computational granularity levels.

Drop ceiling air flow producer

An air flow producer of non-rectangular shape is adapted for installation in a rectangular opening of a drop ceiling. In preferred form, the producer has a circular housing with an open bottom covered with a grill. A fan with a rotary blade assembly is mounted in the housing to produce a downward air flow, and a circular metal band surrounding the rotary blade assembly defines an air discharge zone centered in the grill and an annular air intake zone surrounding the discharge zone. Flow rates are optimized by positioning the band close to the grill. The grill is preferably integrally molded with a rectangular flange that seats in the drop ceiling opening. The flange supports the housing from the framework and closes the opening to prevent the producer from drawing air from the plenum above the drop ceiling.

Active optical zoom system

ActiveUS6977777B1Increase the zoom rangeIncrease flexibilityOptical elementsCamera lensCatoptrics
An active optical zoom system changes the magnification (or effective focal length) of an optical imaging system by utilizing two or more active optics in a conventional optical system. The system can create relatively large changes in system magnification with very small changes in the focal lengths of individual active elements by leveraging the optical power of the conventional optical elements (e.g., passive lenses and mirrors) surrounding the active optics. The active optics serve primarily as variable focal-length lenses or mirrors, although adding other aberrations enables increased utility. The active optics can either be LC SLMs, used in a transmissive optical zoom system, or DMs, used in a reflective optical zoom system. By appropriately designing the optical system, the variable focal-length lenses or mirrors can provide the flexibility necessary to change the overall system focal length (i.e., effective focal length), and therefore magnification, that is normally accomplished with mechanical motion in conventional zoom lenses. The active optics can provide additional flexibility by allowing magnification to occur anywhere within the FOV of the system, not just on-axis as in a conventional system.

System and console for monitoring and managing well site operations

A well advisor system and console for monitoring and managing well drilling and production operations. The system may be accessed through one or more workstations, or other computing devices, which may be located at a well site or remotely. The system is in communication with and receives input from various sensors. It collects real-time sensor data sampled during operations at the well site. The system processes the data, and provides nearly instantaneous numerical and visual feedback through a variety of graphical user interfaces (“GUIs”), which are presented in the form of an operation-specific console. The input and data provides information related to rate of penetration concerning a well being drilled, and present the information for related parameters in real time against a plotted “fairway” of determined maximum and minimum values, with a focus on the safety of the drilling operation.

A broadband signal amplifier includes one of more broadband amplifier circuits, each dynamically controlled in response to a total power level of signals applied thereto to reduce linearity in response to a reduction of input signal strength. A filter may couple the output of the broadband amplifier circuits to each other to form a tandem arrangement. Power detectors are connected to detect and provide outputs indicative of the total power levels of the signals applied to respective broadband amplifiers. A control unit is connected to and receives the output from the power detectors and, in response, provides a control signals to the broadband amplifier circuit so as to operate each over portions of their operating characteristic curves that provide only that degree of linearity necessary to limit distortion to a predetermined or dynamically adjustable maximum acceptable level.

Friction reducer for hydraulic fracturing

ActiveUS20200190397A1Promote rapid inversionGood benefitDrilling compositionLubricant compositionAmine ethoxylateActive agent
Compositions comprising an acrylamide polymer emulsion and a nonionic surfactant suitable for use as friction reducers for hydraulic fracturing are disclosed. The nonionic surfactants include aralkylated phenol ethoxylates, amine ethoxylates, amidoamine ethoxylates, linear or branched alcohol EO / PO alkoxylates, ethoxylated alcohols, alkylphenol ethoxylates, and EO-capped poly(oxypropylene) block copolymers. Improved hydraulic fracturing processes in which an acrylamide polymer emulsion is used as a friction reducer are also described. In these processes, the surfactant is included in the composition with the acrylamide polymer friction reducer, or it is introduced separately into the process. The performance of low-cost polyacrylamide friction reducers can be boosted with a small proportion of certain readily available nonionic surfactants. The inventive compositions are effective in high-salinity environments, and their performance can sometimes exceed that of more-expensive salt-tolerant friction reducers, thereby reducing fresh water demand and enabling greater utilization of produced water.

Electronic circuit device

A normally-off type silicon carbide junction FET has a problem that the gate thereof is not easy to use due to inferiority in the characteristics of it. This problem occurs because in order to achieve normally-off, the gate voltage should be off at 0V and at the same time, the ON-state gate voltage should be suppressed to about 2.5V to prevent the passage of an electric current through a pn junction between gate and source. Accordingly, a range from the threshold voltage to the ON-state gate voltage is only from about 1 V to 2V and it is difficult to control the gate voltage. Provided in the present invention is an electronic circuit device obtained by coupling, to a gate of a normally-off type silicon carbide junction FET, an element having a capacitance equal to or a little smaller than the gate capacitance of the junction FET.
