The present invention is directed to photostable sunscreen and/or artificial tanning compositions including quantum dot nanocrystals of a material selected from semiconductor nanocrystals, modified semiconductor nanocrystals, multicomponent semiconductor/semiconductor nanocrystals, and hybrid semiconductor/metal nanocrystals, the quantum dot nanocrystals having an absorption band gap occurring at wavelengths higher than 400 nm whereby the quantum dot nanocrystals have substantial broadband absorption properties of ultraviolet light at wavelengths across the range of both UV-A (320-400 nm) and UV-B (280-320 nm), and a dermatologically acceptable carrier for the quantum dot nanocrystals. The present invention is further directed to photostable sunscreen and/or artificial tanning compositions including a material selected from metallic nanocrystals, multicomponent metal/metal nanocrystals, and alloyed metal nanocrystals, the metallic material having a surface plasmon resonance occurring sufficiently into the visible or infrared spectral region whereby broad absorption features due to electronic transitions, the broad absorption features located at higher energies, provide substantial broadband absorption properties of ultraviolet light at wavelengths across the range of both UV-A (320-400 nm) and UV-B (280-320 nm), and a dermatologically acceptable carrier for the metallic material.

The invention discloses a method for preparing porous nano TiO2. The method includes steps: according to the weight ratio of titanic acid ester, sublimable compound template, organic solvent, acid and deionized water, (0.001%-80%):(0.00001%-50%):(0.001%-95%):(0.001%-90%):(0.001%-95%), mixing the titanic acid ester, the sublimable compound, the organic solvent and the acid till completely dissolved, adding the deionized water, scattering with ultrasonic for 0.1-20 hours, reacting under stirring at 25-85 DEG C for 0.1-50 hours, ageing for 1-48 hours at room temperature to obtain TiO2 sol containing the sublimate template, removing solvent by means of reduced pressure distillation, drying at 60-130 DEG C, roasting at 150-240 DEG C for 0.1-20 hours, roasting at 250-340 DEG C for 0.1-20 hours, roasting at 350-440 DEG C for 0.1-20 hours, roasting at 450 DEG C for 0.1-20 hours, cooling naturally and grinding to obtain porous nano TiO2 solid powder. The porous nano TiO2 solid powder can be applied to photocatalytic hydrogen production by water decomposition, photocatalytic organic pollutant degradation, ultrasonic absorbing materials, textiles, self-cleaning glass, sunscreen cream, paint, printing ink, food packaging materials, paper industry, space industry and lithium batteries and has wide application prospect. The method is simple and feasible in process, low in investment and beneficial to popularization and application.

The invention discloses a preparation method of surface coated modified nanometer titanium dioxide, which effectively reduces nanometer powder agglomeration and improves dispersibility. The method includes: using ethyl acetate and ethanol to conduct dissolution and centrifugation treatment on the cosmetic to remove most organic components, performing drying, then conducting TEM, XRD and XPS analysis on the sample, observing the shape through TEM to obtain the particle size distribution so as to confirm whether a nano-material is added, performing XRD analysis to obtain the phase components and structure of the additive, and performing XPS to obtain the chemical form of elements; then combining ICP-OES quantitative determination to obtain the element content, thereby obtaining the content and morphological structure information of nano-components in the sample. The method can be used for detection of titanium dioxide or/and zinc oxide nanoparticles in cosmetics, and has the characteristics of small nanoparticle loss, accurate result, and safe operation process. Also the method provided by the invention has wide detection application range, is not only suitable for treatment of sun cream samples, and is also applicable to liquid foundations, compact powder and other sunscreen and whitening products.
