This invention provides a heavy-duty
truck modular
hybrid trailer drive
system and method based on real-time traction force, relating to the field of vehicle
energy management technology. The
system includes a heavy-duty
truck tractor unit, a modular secondary trailer, and a general cargo trailer. The modular secondary trailer is detachably connected to the heavy-duty
truck tractor unit via a standard
saddle, adapting to existing heavy-duty trucks without modification. The heavy-duty
truck tractor unit can be driven by a direct-drive engine, pure electric, or range-extended
hybrid system. The modular secondary trailer is equipped with a modular
energy source module, a
drive motor, and an RCU controller. The modules are quick to install and remove and offer multiple options. The VCU and RCU work together to achieve optimal
torque distribution, triple validity checks, and real-time fine-tuning, recovering kinetic and
gravitational potential energy during braking. This invention achieves coordinated drive between the
tractor unit and trailer, reducing
energy consumption, increasing range, allowing the trailer to operate independently, adapting to multiple operating conditions, and significantly improving safety and operational efficiency.
