System and method for securely backing up and reliably retrieving vault data in a metering system that includes a host processor operatively coupled to a vault. Whenever a transaction is completed by the vault, the vault cryptographically signs the vault data, including ascending register, descending register and piece count and sends the cryptographically signed vault data to the host processor where it is stored in a data file assigned to the vault. Each storage of the cryptographically signed vault data is indexed to create a historical log of vault transactions. If the vault is lost or damaged so that vault data cannot be retrieved from the vault, the cryptographically signed vault data is retrieved from the host processor data file and verified.

The present invention relates generally to a radiofrequency reactor for use in thermally recovering oil and related materials. The radiofrequency reactor includes a radiofrequency antenna configured to be positioned within a well, where the well is provided within an area in which crude oil exists in the ground. The radiofrequency antenna includes a cylindrically-shaped radiating element for radiating radiofrequency energy into the area in which crude oil exists. The cylindrically-shaped radiating element is configured to allow passage of fluids there through. The radiofrequency reactor also includes a radiofrequency generator electrically coupled to the radiofrequency antenna. The radiofrequency reactor is operable to control the radiofrequency energy generated.

A hydrocarbon feedstock upgrading method is provided. The method includes supplying the hydrocarbon feedstock, water and a pre-heated hydrogen donating composition to a hydrothermal reactor where the mixed stream is maintained at a temperature and pressure greater than the critical temperatures and pressure of water in the absence of catalyst for a residence time sufficient to convert the mixed stream into a modified stream. The hydrogen donating composition is pre-heated and maintained at a temperature of greater than about 50° C. for a period of at least about 10 minutes. The modified stream includes upgraded hydrocarbons relative to the hydrocarbon feedstock. The modified stream is then separated into a gas stream and a liquid stream and the liquid stream is separated into a water stream and an upgraded hydrocarbon product stream.

The present invention relates to a press-type liquid pump. The liquid pump comprises a fixed unit fixed relative to a container and a movable unit capable of performing a reciprocating motion relative to the fixed unit, and a liquid product is pumped to the exterior of the container. The reciprocating motion is achieved by a pressing force applied by a user to the movable unit to move the movable unit relative to the fixed unit in combination with an elastic restoring means for restoring the movable unit relative to the fixed unit after the pressing force is removed. The elastic restoring means is a plastic elastic compressing means located below a toothed sleeve and installed between the fixed unit and the movable unit, which comprises at least one elastic strip generally formed in an arc shape.

Novel methods and systems for quantization based data embedding and reading in host signals, such as image, audio and video signals. To embed auxiliary data in a host signal, an embedder maps the host signal from a first domain into a mapped signal in a second domain. The embedder performs quantization based embedding of auxiliary data into the host signal using quantizers. The quantizers are adapted such that the relationship between corresponding quantizers in the first and second domains satisfies a predetermined constraint. The mapping improves the robustness of the data embedding method by increasing the chances that the embedded data can be recovered by an auxiliary data reader after modifications. A related embedding method projects the mapped signal unto a vector, and specifically, a pseudorandom vector. It performs quantization based embedding on the projected signal. The use of this projection provides added robustness of the embedded data to noise and other forms of distortion.

The present invention relates generally to the use of radiofrequency energy to heat heavy crude oil or both heavy crude oil and subsurface water in situ, thereby enhancing the recovery and handling of such oil. A method for efficiently recovering a platinum group element comprises melting copper-iron scrap containing a platinum group element, forming the melt into two liquid phases, a molten copper phase containing at least one rare metal selected from the group consisting of Nd, Pr, and Dy and a molten iron phase having a carbon concentration of at least 1 mass %, with the carbon contained in the molten iron phase being derived from carbon contained in the melt, separating the two liquid phases, recovering the molten copper phase, and separating and recovering from the molten copper phase a platinum group element dissolved therein. The copper-iron scrap may contain a rare metal, or a member containing a rare metal may be added to the melt with a preferred total concentration of rare metals in the melt being at least 1 mass %.

The present invention provides techniques that selectively recover Re from reductive amination catalysts. In particular, the present invention allows Re to be recovered selectively relative to Ni, Co, and/or Cu, and particularly Ni, that are often present on reductive amination catalysts. The present invention uses a combination of oxidation and extraction techniques to selectively recover Re relative to Ni, Co, and/or Cu. Advantageously, the recovery is selective even when using aqueous solutions for extraction.

An extraction sheet having high machinability in the manufacture of an extraction filter for beverages and an extraction filter using the same and having high handling property is provided. The extraction sheet has a bending hysteresis of 5.0×10⁻³ to 14.5×10⁻³ gf·cm/cm.

The present invention provided a method for salting-out extraction of acetone and butanol from a fermentation broth, characterized in that one type, or two or more types of salts and one type, or two or more types of extractants are added to an acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) fermentation broth, in which the salt saturation achieves 10%˜100%; and the volume ratio of the fermentation broth containing salts to the extractants is 1:0.1˜1:5. The mixture is allowed to stand until phase separation is formed. The top phase is a solvent phase or extraction phase enriched with acetone and butanol whereas the bottom phase is a salt-enriched phase or raffinate phase. This method involves many advantages, such as the simplified operation procedure, accelerated separation process and low separation cost, and therefore becomes a promising method of separating acetone and butanol in industrial application.

The present invention discloses a method for preparing p-hydroxycinnamate by using an ionic liquid for catalytic lignin depolymerization comprising: 1) preparation of a halogen metal-based ionic liquid: preparing the halogen metal-based ionic liquid by reacting an alkylimidazole chloride with a metal chloride by heating the same to 30° C. to 80° C. with stirring; and 2) catalytic depolymerization of lignin: mixing the halogen metal-based ionic liquid and lignin with an alcohol, and after N₂ replacement, heating the solution to 140° C. to 200° C. and reacting the solution for 4-8 h while stirring to prepare high value-added chemicals with p-hydroxycinnamate as a main product. The present invention has advantages of a simple process, mild conditions, environmental kindness, and high selectivity for a main product. The ionic liquid is simple in preparation, has a good atom economy, and is recyclable. Under optimal conditions, the yield of p-hydroxycinnamate can reach 40-80 mg/g.

The invention discloses a combined type anti-theft system for a storage battery. The combined type anti-theft system is good in theft preventing effect, and does not influence the normal running of a vehicle.
