A distributed refrigeration system for a vehicle includes a vapor compression primary cooling circuit and a separate secondary cooling circuit. The secondary cooling circuit utilizes a non-toxic cooling fluid that is pumped to remote locations in the vehicle through designated supply lines. A heat exchanger acting with the primary cooling circuit cools the cooling fluid. A portable main storage compartment is fluidly connectable to the primary or secondary cooling circuits. The portable main cold storage compartment can be expandable. At the remote locations in the vehicle, docking stations permit items to be selectively cooled by the secondary cooling circuit. Both the primary and secondary cooling circuits can operate independently of the vehicle engine.

A rugged terrain robot (RTR) apparatus can function as a reconnaissance robot to optimize safety of search or rescue personnel. Remote control places the RTR in either a rolling mode or in a stair-climbing mode. Remote feedback is provided by an on-board RTR camera and microphone. The RTR consists of two clamshell sections and a tail boom section. The RTR uses polymorphic locomotion of the clamshells for efficient maneuverability in traversing rugged terrain when in a “rolling” mode and is switched remotely into a stair-climbing mode (or extreme terrain) using end-over-end clamshell motion with a tail boom assist to climb stairways. The RTR can carry various communication devices, sensors and payloads for use by police, firemen, soldiers, rescue or other applications to optimize safety when direct entry by a human may not desirable until an area is reconnoitered. The RTR is remote controllable and easily transported to a reconnaissance area.

A portable computer is disclosed with a base, a display module containing a flat-panel display, a heat-spreader positioned to the rear of the display module, an insulating rear cover on the opposite side of the heat-spreader from the display module and serving at least in part as the rear outer surface of the portable computer for maintaining cool temperatures on the rear outer surface of the portable computer, and means for moving the heat-spreader and the insulating rear cover close to the display module when the portable computer is not being used, and for moving the heat-spreader and insulating rear cover a distance away from the display module when the portable computer is being used, and preventing touch access to the heat-spreader. Many structures are disclosed for the efficient cooling of the heat-spreader.

A display apparatus for receiving broadcasting includes a display unit configured to display an image thereon, a cover which partially covers the display unit, at least one signal connector which is configured to connect to a portable signal processing module that is located outside the cover and processes a signal to be displayed by the display unit, and receives the signal processed by the signal processing module, and a timing controller (T-con) configured to control a display timing of the signal received by the at least one signal connector.

This invention relates to improvements in the fast pyrolysis of biomass. In this invention, a portion of the products from a pyrolysis reactor are condensed in the liquid phase and at least a portion of the recovered liquid is recycled to the pyrolysis reactor for further conversion to valuable, useful products.

PEG lipids are used to extract hydrocarbons from oil sands. At ambient temperatures the PEG lipids combine with bitumen onto a flowable form, which is easily transportable by pipeline. The process results in the release of less carbon dioxide than conventional extraction processes.

Methanol is produced as a storable and transportable carbon-based energy carrier using at least two different methods. To produce a first methanol portion, water is electrolyzed, preferably using energy from renewable energy sources such as solar or wind power, to produce hydrogen. The hydrogen is then reacted with carbon dioxide to produce the first methanol portion. To produce a second methanol portion, methane is reacted with oxygen. A controller can advantageously be used to control the amount of chemicals in each reaction.

A garage door opener is provided with a drive mechanism formed by a chain that runs in a track. The track is mounted on the platform of a mounting support that is hinged to the vehicle entry wall of a garage directly above the garage door opening. The track includes a track opening directed straight out from the vehicle entry wall. The track extends in a curve from the track opening toward the vehicle entry wall, along a first proximal straight section that lies parallel to the vehicle entry wall, around a one hundred eight degree bend, and along another distal straight section that is located parallel to and spaced from the first, proximal section. The chain is formed with large links having flat upper and lower plates. Each link has a hinged side and an unhinged side and the links are joined together at their corners along their hinged sides. The chain can only be bent in an arc that is concave inwardly toward the hinged sides of the links. A reversible drive mechanism drives the chain so that as the garage door is opened, the chain links emanate in straight linear alignment with each other from the track opening and function as a push rod that forces the top of the garage door inwardly toward the interior of the garage. When the garage door is closed, the links of the chain will flex about their corner connections and thereby follow the chain track on the platform. As the garage door approaches a closed position, a lift mechanism is actuated that rotates the platform upwardly through a small arc to allow the top of the garage door to pass therebeneath.

A portable convertible ice cooled serving table comprised of two sections is foldable for carrying by a handle. The legs may be folded against the sections. Transparent covers to protect the food from insects and to keep atmospheric heat away from the food and cooling medium are removeably pivotally mountable to the sections when erected and are storable within the folded table, including handles thereon, for transport and storage. The two sections are pivotally openable to form a table and conveniently secured in table position wherein the bases of the two sections are in the same plane. The legs are also provided with easily insertable and releasable braces which are pivotally mounted to the bases of the sections. The sections may be preferably made of insulative material.

A portable enclosure for sanitary purposes includes upper and lower retaining members and a plurality of support posts extending therebetween. A plurality of wall panels also extend between the respective retaining members. The side edges of the wall panels are received in grooves of the support posts and upper and lower edges of the wall panels are received in retaining means provided in the upper and/or lower retaining members. The retaining means are non-linear—preferably curved—ands preferably take the form of grooves in the surface of the retaining members. The wall panels thereby adopt a curved configuration which provides increased compressive strength.

The present invention provides a portable x-ray CT scanner for generating diagnostically meaningful images of a subject, such as a patient's cranium. The system includes a gantry ring which is configured to be portable or hand-held which is tether to a power supply. The device allows for simple, quick scans which are compensated for movement artifact and may then be transmitted electronically to local or regional medical facilities in advance of the patient's arrival.

A device for holding archery bows and/or other hunting accessories is provided. The hunting accessory holding device includes a base member that attaches to a mounting substrate such as a tree, an arm assembly that is configured to hold the archery bow, and a lift mechanism that connects the arm assembly to the base member. The lift mechanism automatically retracts the arm assembly upwardly, from an extended position to a retracted position, when the bow is removed from the arm assembly, thereby removing the arm assembly from the hunter's view and way. The lift mechanism can include a spring that provides a retracting force for moving the arm assembly. As desired, the lift mechanism can also provide an adjustable or variable braking force that opposes the retracting force and enables the hunter to determine a rate of arm retraction, as desired.

A fishing rod cavity. A top is joined to a bottom by a plurality of columns. An upper end of each column is frictionally disposed within a top cavity; a lower end of each column is frictionally disposed within a bottom cavity. A column cavity sized to admit a fishing rod handle is disposed at an upper end of each column, to hold the fishing rod for rinsing after salt water use. Drains through the bottom allow rinse water to escape out of a cavity in the fishing rod caddy, and also reduce the fishing rod caddy's weight. Alternate embodiments provide slots sized to admit, store, and transport tackle box trays, and a cavity sized to admit a standard bucket. The fishing rod caddy is made of nylon, plastic, or synthetic material to reduce water absorption and help prevent mold growth on the fishing rod caddy.

The present invention has a shaft with a chisel and a ladle at opposed ends. Two stops are welded to the shaft, and a slide assembly is located between the stops. A first handle is between the chisel and the first stop, and a second handle is between the ladle and the second stop. The slide assembly strikes the first stop to make the chisel break through the ice. The ladle is used to scoop out any pieces of ice that are in the hole. A rubber material is on the slide assembly and on the second handle to prevent the user's gloves from freezing thereon. The chisel can be driven into the frozen surface, but not through the frozen surface, to form an anchor. Removal of the anchor is accomplished by striking the slide assembly against the second stop.

A handgun bushing removal tool, designed to encompass the end of the slide, to facilitate the safe and rapid removal and replacement of the barrel bushing on a 1911 type semi-automatic pistol. The tool contains an aperture generally conforming to the shape of a 1911 barrel bushing, which the bushing passes through, which when held in the palm of the hand, allows direct pressure to be applied to the spring plug while the tool is rotated. A sterilization assembly and methods of use for sterilizing various instruments or surfaces are described herein. The assembly may generally comprise an elongate housing defining a storage lumen and an opening, a plurality of cartridges aligned adjacent to one another within the storage lumen where each cartridge has a cleaning element, a biasing mechanism configured to bias the plurality of cartridges towards the opening of the storage lumen, and a release mechanism positioned along the elongate housing and adjacent to the opening. Actuation of the release mechanism may release at least one cartridge at the opening for ejection. The assembly may also comprise an actuator which oscillates the cleaning element or the at least one cartridge relative to the elongate housing. Furthermore, a processor in electrical communication with the actuator which is programmed to monitor operation of the actuator and/or positioning of the plurality of cartridges may also be incorporated.

An applicator including at least one tube with at least one plug of a liquid or a powder inside the tube. At least a first substance is contained in an inside space of the tube, with the space defined at a first end by the liquid or powder plug. The plug is arranged, in use, to be expelled together with the first substance when it leaves the inside space of the tube. The applicator further includes at least one second substance different from the first substance and dissociated therefrom prior to use. An enclosure connects the first pulley to the second pulley and surrounds the path of the rope between the two pulleys.
