An image printing apparatus and a controlling method thereof capable of outputting optimum images adjusted in accordance with characteristics of the printing material used, including: a photosensitive section for forming a latent electrostatic image; a charging section for charging the photosensitive section; an exposing section for forming the latent electrostatic image of a certain pattern by projecting a laser beam onto the photosensitive section which is charged by the charging section, and by selectively eliminating any residue of electric charge of the photosensitive section; a developing section for developing the latent electrostatic image by applying a developer onto the latent electrostatic image formed on the photosensitive section; a transferring/fixing section for transferring the image developed by the developing section to a printing material; a printing material feeding section for sequentially supplying the printing material to the transferring/fixing section; a data reading section for reading printing material data recorded on the printing material which is fed by the printing material feeding section; and a controlling section for controlling the above components of the image printing apparatus, and for determining the printability of the printing material based on the data about the printing material which are read by the data reading section, and when the printing material is determined as being acceptable, for setting functional set values for the respective above components of the image printing apparatus in accordance with the characteristics of the printing material to output optimum images. Since controlling parameters for the respective components are reset in accordance with the characteristics of the printing material, optimum images can be fully guaranteed when printing the printing material.

Wherein the charge eliminating device comprises an elastic conductive part, and when the elastic conductive part is placed on the plurality of salient points and when the electrostatic chuck is electrified, the elastic conductive part can generate elastic deformation under the action of electrostatic force so as to be in contact with the bearing surface of the electrostatic chuck, so that residual charges on the bearing surface are transferred; the sheet taking part is used for placing the elastic conductive part on the plurality of salient points or taking away the elastic conductive part from the plurality of salient points; and the sheet taking part is grounded. According to the semiconductor process equipment provided by the invention, the residual charge on the bearing surface of the electrostatic chuck can be quickly eliminated, and the process chamber does not need to be opened.

An image forming apparatus includes: an image holding section that includes a photoconductor having a surface protection layer; a charging section that charges a surface of the image holding section with a direct current potential; an exposure section that exposes the surface of the image holding section charged by the charging section to form an electrostatic latent image; a developing section that develops the electrostatic latent image formed on the image holding section; a transfer section that electrostatically transfers a visible image formed on the image holding section to a transfer medium; an exposure static elimination section that eliminates a residual charge of the image holding section by using the exposure section when image formation on the image holding section is stopped; a transfer static elimination section that eliminates the residual charge of the image holding section by using at least the transfer section when the image formation on the image holding section is stopped; and a switching section that causes the exposure static elimination section to perform static elimination under a condition that the residual charge of the image holding section does not exceed a threshold value of an allowable static elimination level at which the residual charge is eliminated by the exposure static elimination section, and causes the transfer static elimination section instead of the exposure static elimination section to perform static elimination under a condition that the residual charge exceeds the threshold value.
