152 results about "Lateral projection" patented technology

Lateral projection. a radiographic representation of the body produced by an x-ray beam that travels from the left to the right side of the body, or vice versa. It is a right lateral projection if the right side of the body is adjacent to the cassette and a left lateral projection if the left side is adjacent to it.

Disposable anesthesia face mask

A disposable anesthesia face mask suitably sized and configured to engage the nose portion, mouth portion and chin portion of a patient's face comprises a cup-like shell or receptacle member and a flexible inflatable hollow sealing cushion attached to the shell member on a flange thereon and wherein the shell member includes first passageway means for coupling to a breathing circuit, and a second passageway for connection to a flexible tube which, in turn, is adapted to be connected to a CO2 monitoring machine or capnograph. The face mask shell nasal portion has a first width, the face mask shell mouth portion has a second width greater than the first width, and the face mask shell chin portion has a third width greater than the second width. The nasal, mouth and chin portions are continuous and form the cup-like extent of the shell or receptacle member giving it a characteristic “pear” shape. Lateral projections provided on the shell flange are intended to accommodate an elastic head strap that may adjustably be coupled to the projections to hold the mask in place on a patient's face and head.

Device and method for spinous process distraction

An implant for maintaining a given minimum inter-spinous-process spacing includes an implant body with a number of segments hingedly interconnected so as to assume a straightened state for delivery along a conduit and a curved deployed state. An elongated tightening element is anchored at the distal segment of the implant body and passes along a channel extending along the implant body. Tension applied to the tightening element biases the implant body from the straightened state to the curved deployed state. Preferably, when the tightening element is deflected to reach the curved deployed state, a locking arrangement locks the tightening element relative to the implant body, thereby retaining the implant in the curved deployed state. A distal portion of the implant body is preferably formed with a set of lateral projections to inhibit withdrawal of the distal portion between adjacent spinous processes after deployment.

Surgical biopsy instrument

A surgical instrument in the form of a biopsy needle for removing tissue samples from a patient. The device has means for preloading to excise tissue samples of a preselected one of many possible tissue sample sizes. After preloading, the procedure is easily accomplished using a single hand. The tip is rendered less traumatic by positioning the distal end of the tissue sample notch relatively close to the very distal tip of the stylet. This is accomplished by grinding the distal tip of the stylet into an elliptical shape in a plane having a lateral projection which is away from the distal end of the tissue sample notch.

Electromechanical memory cell with torsional movement

A memory cell uses a pair of cantilevers to store a bit of information. Changing the relative position of the cantilevers determines whether they are electrically conducting or not. The on and off state of this mechanical latch is switched by using, for example, electrostatic, electromagnetic or thermal forces applied sequentially on the two cantilevers to change their relative position. The amount of power required to change the state of the cell is reduced by supporting at least one of the cantilevers with at least one lateral projection that is placed in torsion during cantilever displacement. After a bit of data is written, the cantilevers are locked by mechanical forces inherent in the cantilevers and will not change state unless a sequential electrical writing signal is applied. The sequential nature of the required writing signal makes inadvertent, radiation or noise related data corruption unlikely.

Double-patterned magneto-resistive random access memory (MRAM) for reducing magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) pitch for increased MRAM bit cell density

Double-patterned magneto-resistive random access memory (MRAM) for reducing magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) pitch for increased MRAM bit cell density is disclosed. In one aspect, to fabricate MTJs in an MRAM array with reduced MTJ row pitch, a first patterning process is performed to provide separation areas in an MTJ layer between what will become rows of fabricated MTJs, which facilitates MTJs in a given row sharing a common bottom electrode. This reduces the etch depth and etching time needed to etch the individual MTJs in a subsequent step, can reduce lateral projections of sidewalls of the MTJs, thereby relaxing the pitch between adjacent MTJs, and may allow an initial MTJ hard mask layer to be reduced in height. A subsequent second patterning process is performed to fabricate individual MTJs. Additional separation areas are etched between free layers of adjacent MTJs in a given row to fabricate the individual MTJs.

Fire disaster slide escape of high-rise building

InactiveCN103386175AReduce casualtiesEffectively deal withBuilding rescueFire - disastersEngineering
The invention provides a fire disaster slide escape of a high-rise building. At present, the high-rise building is not provided with a specially-arranged fire disaster escaping facility; when a fire disaster happens, an elevator cannot be used, a fire ladder only can be used by fewer people including fire fighters and the like, and a lot of the people only can go downstairs by emergency staircases, so that the speed is very slow. If a terrorist attack accident, such as 911 in America, happens again, thousands of people lose the lives. The fire disaster slide escape disclosed by the invention enables the trapped people to rapidly escape from a fire disaster field in very short time so that the casualties can be reduced to the greatest extent. According to the fire disaster slide escape disclosed by the invention, a slide ladder shaft is arranged on one side of an elevator shaft or each fire prevention zone of the high-rise building; a slide ladder room is arranged on each layer in a slide ladder shaft way; and a straight-line slide ladder in a range of 30 degrees to 75 degrees is arranged between the upper and lower layers of the slide ladder rooms. One slide ladder is rotated for 180 degrees in each slide ladder room and then is connected with the slide ladder of the lower part. The process is repeated until reaching an exit of a bottom layer or an underground layer. The lateral projection of the slide ladders in one slide ladder shaft way is in a folded line shape. The fire disaster slide escape disclosed by the invention is simple in configuration, low in cost, and safe and reliable, and does not use power.
