The present invention provides a treatment for enhancing the ability of the body to heal wounds. A topical cream is described which improves blood flow by the transdermal delivery of the nitric oxide precursor L-Arginine either alone or with an adjunct, theophylline. The delivery of the active agents is accomplished by use of a vehicle which contains a hostile biophysical environment which is also hostile to hydrogen bond formation.

This invention reveals a novel skin-rejuvenating method that combines the application of light physics (a Light emitting diode (LED) device with specific wavelength, intensity, and pulsing frequency) and biochemistry (a specific collagenase inhibitor). The programmed LED light can penetrate skin epidermis and activate the fibroblasts in dermis to produce new collagen. Meanwhile, the overproduction of collagen leads to the feedback activation of collagenase, which degrades collagen and eliminates the beneficiary effects of LED light. A body tissue treatment system comprising a heating device and a topical cream comprises controlled, non-burning heat exhibiting greater temperature fluctuation than a conventional heating device. An eczema treatment method comprises application of a therapeutically effective composition in the form of an aqueous topical cream to an affected area of an exterior skin region of a patient, the aqueous topical cream comprising water, a water-soluble organic liquid, a surface active agent, and vitamin D₃ compound or another claimed analog thereof, the vitamin D₃ compound or the analog constituting at least approximately 10 international units per gram (IU/gram), and, most preferably at least approximately 400 IU/gram.
