226 results about "Vertical translation" patented technology

In geometry, a vertical translation (also known as vertical shift) is a translation of a geometric object in a direction parallel to the vertical axis of the Cartesian coordinate system. Often, vertical translations are considered for the graph of a function. If f is any function of x, then the graph of the function f(x) + c (whose values are given by adding a constant c to the values of f) may be obtained by a vertical translation of the graph of f(x) by distance c. For this reason the function f(x) + c is sometimes called a vertical translate of f(x). For instance, the antiderivatives of a function all differ from each other by a constant of integration and are therefore vertical translates of each other.

Processor-controlled carving and multi-purpose shaping device

One embodiment of the present invention is a compact, low-cost, lightweight, versatile and easy-to-operate, processor-controlled carving and multi-purpose shaping device (“PCCMPS machine”). The PCCMPS machine that represents one embodiment of the present invention is configured, in part, similarly to common, commercially available portable wood planers and ubiquitous laser and ink-jet computer printers, with work pieces fed into the PCCMPS machine in a horizontal direction. The PCCMPS machine includes a motor-powered cutting head that can power detachable bits to drill, cut, shape, and rout a work piece under processor and computer control. The cutting head may be translated, under processor control, back and forth across the surface of the work piece in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the work piece is fed into the PCCMPS machine and moved by motor-powered rollers. The cutting head may be translated up and down, in a vertical direction, approximately perpendicular to the surface of the work piece. The processor can thus position a cutting bit at any point on a surface of, near the surface of, or within the work piece, via a combination of lateral and vertical translations of the cutting head and horizontal translation of the work piece, and can control the speed at which the bit rotates as the computer moves the rotating bit from one position to another position relative to the surface of the work piece in order to carve and shape elaborate, three-dimensional designs onto the work piece.

Quick image registration method based on visual remarkable area

The present invention discloses a quick image registration method based on a visual remarkable area, which belongs to the field of image processing. The quick image registration method is used for matching an image A to be matched with a reference image B and respectively acquiring remarkable areas of A and B. The mass centers of three remarkable areas of A are vertexes of a triangle, and the triangle is used as a first characteristic triangle. Similarly a second characteristic triangle is acquired. The first characteristic triangle and the second characteristic triangle which are similar form a similar triangle pair, wherein the similarity of (a,b) is maximal. An affine transformation model for transforming from A to B is established based on (a,b), wherein the related initial matching parameters comprise horizontal translation amount, vertical translation amount, rotation angle and scale parameter. From the initial matching parameter, Powell searching for setting step length is performed for acquiring searching values. Each searching value is used for performing multiple registration tests on the A and B, and the searching value which corresponds with an optical registration test is the optimal matching parameter as a result. The optimal matching parameter is used for performing affine transformation on A for acquiring a final registration result.
