Method for laminating closure member to film web

Methods for forming a thermoplastic film with an attached closure strip are disclosed. The film can be used to produce zippered reclosable plastic bags. The methods include providing a thermoplastic film web having a sealing surface and a closure strip having a binding surface, both being in a non-melted condition. The film web and the closure strip are aligned in non-overlapping relationship and a heated thermoplastic binder layer is positioned on the film web sealing surface and on the closure strip binding surface quickly after extrusion. The hot binder layer transfers enough heat to the closure strip and to the film web to melt the closure strip binding surface and the film web sealing surface. Pressure is applied to seal the closure strip to the film web. An apparatus for practicing the method and a reclosable bag formed from the thermoplastic film with attached closure strips are also disclosed.

The invention relates to devices for attaching or detaching a sound suppressor or an auxiliary device to a firearm. The device has a mount body that is attached by threads to a muzzle attachment device that is attached to the muzzle of a firearm. The muzzle attachment device has external mounting threads, a gas seal, an engagement surface, and a locking surface on the rear of the muzzle attachment device. The engagement surface simultaneously provides an alignment function and a forward locking function. A rotating collar is attached by threads to the mount body, and a locking spring with locking surfaces is attached to the mount body by threads, with the locking spring fitting inside the rotating collar. The rotating collar, when rotated, forces the locking spring and its locking surfaces downwards against the rear locking surface on the muzzle attachment device, providing force against the rear locking surface and securing the sound suppressor or auxiliary device to the muzzle attachment device through the combination of the forward engagement surface and the rear locking surface.

Fiber optic strain gage and carrier

The current invention relates to optical gages designed to measure strain on the surface of a test specimen. The gages of this invention is designed to be installed and used in a manner similar to conventional electronic foil strain gages, but to have the advantages of an all-optical gage. The gage of this invention is constructed to allow surface strain on the test specimen to be transferred to a length of optical fiber containing a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). As strain is applied to the fiber, the optical spectrum center wavelength reflected by the Bragg grating shifts in wavelength. This shift in wavelength can be converted directly to units of strain. The current invention provides a gage carrier design for use with fiber optic strain sensors comprising one or more FBGs which provide the benefits of a carrier for ease of handling and mounting without degrading gage performance. The gage carrier provides features that allow the FBG to be precisely positioned and securely bonded to the test specimen in a controlled manner. The carrier additionally provides fiber protection to the installed FBG.
