The present invention provides improved anesthesia delivery systems that consistently and reliably deliver anesthesia gas to multiple gas outlets. The systems are particularly useful for anesthetizing multiple mammals and living specimens to be imaged by a low-light level imaging system. The anesthesia delivery systems are suitable for use with conventional oxygen sources, and convert the high pressures associated with a conventional oxygen source to lower pressures suitable for use with small mammals and suitable for combination with an anesthesia gas at low flow rates. The systems include an anesthesia gas source that combines anesthesia gas with the oxygen. The combination of anesthesia gas and oxygen is supplied to one or more multiple outlets.

Method and system for automated detection of tissue interior to a mammalian ribcage from an in vivo image

Described herein are systems and methods for efficient and accurate, automated detection of a region of interest interior to the ribcage from an in vivo mammalian image. It is found that efficient, automated identification of the region of interest interior to the ribcage can be achieved by the use of both a bone distance mask and a surface distance mask. The technique solves the problem of accurate and fast identification of the region of interest for a wide range of sizes and shapes of mammals, e.g., small mammals such as mice.

Method for preparing small-sized mammalian skin rolled and avulsed wound model

The invention discloses a method for preparing the models of grinding-pressing-tearing-peeling wound on the skin of small mammals, which comprises that: (1) after depilation and antisepsis are carried out on the skin on the back of a rat, back skin peeling surgery is carried out for forming a rectangular skin flap; (2) the prepared rectangular skin flap on the back of the rat is placed on the skin grinding-pressing-tearing-peeling shaping machine, uniform rotation and transversal movement of the muller are controlled electrically, when the rubber gear at the edge of the muller contacts the skin flap, grinding-pressing-tearing-peeling is produced, the pressure on the skin flap acted by the muller is controlled at 1.0-3.5kg, and the grinding-pressing-tearing-peeling wound of the rat is formed; (3) after seven days, methylene blue is used to indicate the scope of survival and putrescence of the skin flap, statistical analysis on the survival rate of the skin flag is carried out; (4) the model of grinding-pressing-tearing-peeling wound is established, that is the grinding pressure is 2.0-2.5kg, the area of necrotic tissue is moderate and accounts for 1/3 of the total area of the skin flap. The method of the invention has the advantages of accurate control on the produced grinding pressure, simple operation, invariable necrotic area of the skin flaps and good repetition, and the model of the invention is a better model for researching the grinding-pressing-tearing-peeling wound mechanism.

The device can provide a living environment for small mammals and maintain the survival of the small mammals in the space station, and facilitates the development of biomedical research work.
