A wide area network using the internet as a backbone utilizing specially selected ISX / ISP providers whose routers route AlterWAN packets of said wide area network along private tunnels through the internet comprised of high bandwidth, low hop-count data paths. Firewalls are provided at each end of each private tunnel which recognize IP packets addressed to devices at the other end of the tunnel and encapsulate these packets in other IP packets which have a header which includes as the destination address, the IP address of the untrusted side of the firewall at the other end of the tunnel. The payload sections of these packets are the original IP packets and are encrypted and decrypted at both ends of the private tunnel using the same encryption algorithm using the same key or keys.

Activating an identity module for a communication system

An identity module is activated in the following manner. A customization center stores an initial identity code in the identity module and communicates the initial identity code to a network management system. A distributor assigns a communication address to the identity module and communicates the communication address together with the initial identity code to the network management system. The identity module contacts the network management system via a communication device, whereby the network management system receives the initial identity code together with the communication address. The network management system recognizes the initial identity code together with the communication address and, in response, assigns an effective identity code to the identity module. Subsequently, the network management system sends a message to the communication device. This message comprises the effective identity code. The identity module receives the message via the communication device, extracts the effective identity code form the message and stores the effective identity code for future use.

Detection and removal of image occlusion errors

A system, method, and computer-readable medium for detecting and eliminating correspondence errors associated with image occlusions. In a first embodiment of the invention, the method applies traditional correspondence methods for matching points in two images, a left image (FIG. 1A) and a right image (FIG. 1B), taken of the same scene. The method applies the correspondence method to locate a matching a point (310) in the right image (FIG. 1B) with a “best match” point (320) in the left image (FIG. 1A). A set of matching points (310, 320) is generated. A second search is then performed by using the best match point (320) in the right image (FIG. 1B) as the basis for an additional correspondence search in the left image (FIG. 1A). The range of match candidates in the second search is such that points to the left of the starting point (310) are not tested as match candidates. The point (330) generated in the second search may be the same point (310) that was used in the first search or may be a different point altogether. The results of the second search are selected as the match candidates.

Subsequently, at least one of the first and second user units (110, 120) is coupled over a communications network to the central interface unit (130) so that the transfer of at least one of the media file and its associated usage rights data from the first user unit (110) to the second user unit (120) may be logged.

Board-level EMI shield that adheres to and conforms with printed circuit board component and board surfaces

An electrically continuous, grounded conformal EMI protective shield and methods for applying same directly to the surfaces of a printed circuit board. The EMI shield adheres and conforms to the surface of the components and printed wiring board. The shield takes the shape of the covered surfaces while adding little to the dimensions of the surfaces. The EMI shield includes low viscosity, high adherence conductive and dielectric coatings each of which can be applied in one or more layers using conventional spray techniques. The conductive coating prevents substantially all electromagnetic emissions generated by the shielded components from emanating beyond the conformal coating. The dielectric coating is initially applied to selected locations of the printed circuit board so as to be interposed between the conductive coating and the printed circuit board, preventing the conductive coating from electrically contacting selected components and printed wiring board regions. A high viscosity, non-electrically-conductive filler material is applied to printed circuit board regions that have surfaces that are cavitatious and / or which have a highly variable slope. The filler material can be used in conjunction with conformal EMI shield board level coating. The high viscosity, electrically non-conductive filler material substantially covers each cavity such that the covered cavity is inaccessible and that the covered region of the printed circuit board has a contiguous, contoured surface. A pre-manufactured non-electrically-conductive component cover can be mounted over a corresponding component and secured to the printed wiring board. The component cover and printed wiring board surround the component, forming a sealed enclosure. The component cover has a thin cross-section and an interior surface that follows closely the surface of the component. This minimizes the volume enclosed by the component cover. In addition, the exterior surface of the component cover has a low profile, and prevents the conformal EMI shield from physically contacting the covered component. Instead, the exterior surface of the component cover is coated with the EMI shield. This enables the covered component to be removed from the printed circuit board for repair, replacement or salvage without having to risk damage to the printed wiring board or component that may occur with the removal of a conformal EMI shield applied directly to the component.
