Method a designing, engineering modeling and manufacturing orthotics and prosthetics integrating algorithm generated predictions

The present invention represents an advancement on the current processes involved in designing, engineering, modeling and manufacturing of orthotic and prosthetic devices. Orthotic and prosthetic computer aided design software has the option to apply measurements to a template to create a patient specific model. The use of algorithm generated predictions (also referred to as “AGP”) software takes this functionality and makes it more scientific. Algorithm generated predictions is the process of predicting the appropriate size and shape data through the use of complex algorithms. Certain key pieces of data are entered into the software that then calculates the appropriate dimensions and the appropriate computer aided design template. The dimensions are then applied to the computer aided design template. The computer aided design software modifies the templates by reducing and enlarging areas as necessary and a custom computer aided design model is created that can then be transformed into a physical model for the manufacture of the device.

Multiple measurements per position fix improvements

Methods and apparatuses for improved position determination of a device using multiple pseudo range measurements from transmitting sources at known locations, such as GPS satellites. A plurality of pseudo range measurements for each transmitting source are processed together to obtain a simplified maximum likelihood estimate for the pseudo range for that transmitting source at a common reference time. The processed pseudo range estimates for all transmitting sources are then combined using conventional position determination algorithms. This technique facilitates removal of raw measurement outliers prior to position determination, which results in improved (i.e., more accurate) position fixes of the device. In addition, improved measurement integrity monitoring of the pseudo range measurements is a feature of this invention.

Echo suppressor, echo suppressing method, and computer readable storage medium

An apparatus is provided for suppressing an echo signal included in a measured signal corresponding to a measured sound. In the apparatus, the measured signal and a reference signal in a time domain are transformed into a frequency domain, and calculated for obtaining each value of a ratio and a correlation between the measured signal and the reference signal in the frequency domain. With executing a comparison of the values of the ratio and the correlation, a coefficient is derived, where a product of the coefficient and the measured sound in the frequency domain gives an estimated value of the echo signal. The echo in the measured signal is suppressed with subtracting the estimation of the echo signal from the measured signal, respectively in the frequency domain.

Artifact detection and correction system for electroencephalograph neurofeedback training methodology

The method for simultaneously and concurrently identifying and quantifying a wide variety of types of facial electromyographic (EMG) and eye movement electrooculargraphic (EOG) activity, which naturally contaminate electroencephalographic (EEG) waveforms in order to significantly improve the accuracy of the calculation in real-time of the amplitude and / or coherence of any brainwave activity for any chosen frequency bandwidth for any number of electrode placements. This multi-level, widely or universally applicable, pre-defined pattern recognition artifact detection and correction system provides a method for enhancing EEG biofeedback training by detecting and eliminating any brief, contaminated epoch of EEG activity from being included in the calculation and analysis of the EEG signal. The method and apparatus disclosed herein make it possible to provide without any interruption visual, auditory and / or tactile feedback of a “true” EEG signal that through operant conditioning learning principles enables individuals to more quickly and easily learn to control their brainwave activity using neurofeedback.

Diagnosing fetal chromosomal aneuploidy using massively parallel genomic sequencing

Embodiments of this invention provide methods, systems, and apparatus for determining whether a fetal chromosomal aneuploidy exists from a biological sample obtained from a pregnant female. Nucleic acid molecules of the biological sample are sequenced, such that a fraction of the genome is sequenced. Respective amounts of a clinically-relevant chromosome and of background chromosomes are determined from results of the sequencing. The determination of the relative amounts may count sequences of only certain length. A parameter derived from these amounts (e.g. a ratio) is compared to one or more cutoff values, thereby determining a classification of whether a fetal chromosomal aneuploidy exists. Prior to sequencing, the biological sample may be enriched for DNA fragments of a particular sizes.

Method and fine-control collimator for accurate collimation and precise parallel alignment of scanned ion beams

In a system for implanting workpieces with an accurately parallel scanned ion beam, a fine-control collimator construct is used to reduce the deviation of the scanned ion beam from a specified axis of parallelism and thereby improve its collimation. The shape of the fine-control collimator matches the ribbon shape of the beam and correction of parallelism in two orthogonal directions is possible. Measurement of the non-parallelism is accomplished by sampling the scanned beam in two planes and comparing timing information; and such measurement is calibrated to the orientation of the workpiece in the plane where ion implantation occurs. Measurement of non-uniformity in the doping profile is accomplished using the same means; and the scan waveform is adjusted to substantially remove any non-uniformity in the doping profile.

Small single-port arthroscopic lavage, directed tissue drying, biocompatible tissue scaffold and autologous regenerated cell placement delivery system

A system for performing arthroscopic lavage, directed tissue drying, and the accurate placement of a biocompatible tissue scaffold for the adherence of autologous regenerated cells through a small single port of entry into a joint compartment. The system is comprised of a handpiece having valves for irrigation and suctioning and a dual valve swivel cannula attached to the handpiece. The system includes a mobile cart, high resolution camera, light source, optical coupler, high-resolution monitor, an air compressor to power individually controlled irrigation pumps to deliver irrigation fluid to a handpiece and a vacuum suction console to collect fluid. The system also includes an insufflator to maintain distension immediately following the lavage and to dry tissue in preparation for directed tissue scaffold and regenerative cell placement. The delivery system achieves accurate biocompatible tissue scaffold placement to a specific tissue site or sites within the joint utilizing a small diameter arthroscope for direct visualization while inserting and advancing a grasping instrument or device through one of two valves located on the cannula. While holding the tissue scaffold in the jaws of the grasping device, it is advanced through the cannula lumen and extended beyond the distal tip and placed on the dried tissue site. Removing the grasping device, a catheter is then inserted and advanced through a cannula valve into the lumen and extended beyond the distal tip to the scaffold placed and prepared tissue site. A means of applying torque to the catheter tip further enhances the ability for accurate, exact placement of cells to a specific scaffold receptive tissue site. The cells are then injected into and through the catheter and applied under direct visualization to the scaffold. As comprised, the small single-port system allows a physician to perform the diagnosis, clean the joint space of debris and degradative enzymes using pressurized irrigation and suction, followed by a rapid conversion from a sterile saline fluid distension media to a dry gas CO2 distension media and directed tissue drying, and the accurate placement of a biocompatible tissue scaffold for the adherence and accurate placement of regenerated cells through a catheter to a specific tissue site within a joint.
